just for your own sanity, copy the rm file to a friend's machine and see if there's sound on it.
could be one of the output settings in realplayer itself defaulting to something other than your standard soundcard

I know theres sound because the sound plays in RealPlayer. However, I want to use FRAPS to record it and I can't use that on RealPlayer.

I want to record some .RM streams I have to WMVs. I've tried your way on your blog many times and it won't work but I only want bits from the .RM streams anyway. So this would be quite easy to do with FRAPS and Real Alternative (FRAPS cannot capture Real Player but it can Alternative) but there is no sound.

try using Audacity to record the audio at the same time, and add it back into the video FRAPS records

Thats what I was thinking I'd have to do, though I have like 50 clips I want so that would make it much more of a pain. Maybe I'll just uninstall RealPlayer, FRAP the clips (assuming the sound magically reappears) then System Restore it back to where it was before (I don't want to lose my Gold version of RealPlayer )

EDIT: Installed Winamp and the Tara Real Audio Plugin and now the audio works in Real Alternative. Thanks for the help tets.
