    Longest unbeaten run?

Does anyone know when was Ireland longest unbeaten run?

How many games did we go undefeated, and who was the team to halt the run?

    It was 17 games, 07/02/89 - 25/06/90
    At Home, it was 25 games, 23/04/86 - 22/05/91
    Away, it was 11 games, 14/10/92 - 03/06/95

The run of home games started after a 0-1 defeat by Wales (Jack's first game) and ended with a 0-1 defeat by Wales (at RDS).

In the run of 11 away games you have not counted the World Cup finals games in the US, but appear to have included the 1992 US Cup games. If you exclude the tournaments, the 1990 World Cup finals, the 1992 US Cup and the 1994 World Cup Finals, we did not lose an away game between losing 0-2 to Spain on 16/11/88 and losing 1-3 to Austria on 06/09/95, a run of 21 games, I think!

I considered the World Cup and US Cup games as neutral venue except when playing against USA in it.

Lost 3-1 at home and away to them in that campaign. The porn star Stoger got a hat-trick in Vienna.

As far as recent times goes, Kerr's 13 game unbeaten run was pretty impressive.

Absolutely battered them and looked like we'd never score until Ray Houghton put us 1 up 20 minutes into the 2nd half. Then we just collapsed.

Wasn't the collapse attributed to the infamous trip to Harry Ramsdens?

I think the more fundamental reason was that Townsend, McGrath, Aldridge, Houghton and a few others were nearing the end of the road.

A Weds afternoon game was it? vaguely recall taking the afternoon off work to catch that one down the pub.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
