Coleman has had a tremendous season. Haven't caught many Everton games, but I saw Coleman stifle and terrorize Ashley Cole all season and there are not many people who can do that. That doesn't even take into consideration his shove on John Terry. Great guy.

In a sense Coleman is lucky enough to be shortlisted. It is supposed to be for the calendar year and he's only really been a PL player since August. Just shows the impact he's had in that short time I suppose. I think McCarthy is more deserving considering his contribution over the whole year. Gareth Bale should walk it anyway if there's any justice in the world, which obviously there's not! He should get the overall award too in my opinion, with Vidic his only real threat. Is it just me or is Jack Wilshere one of the most unlikable players around?

Vidic has been muck recently, without ferdinand actually. I never knew he had such a lack of pace.

Bale had a few excellent weeks but hasnt done it over the season in my humble opinion... what about Charlie Adam?

I thought he lacked a quick turn of accelleration but not actual pace, he has neither.

Had to check his D.O.B there, thought he was much older. Actually only 25, thought he was about 30 - still too old for young player of the year though!
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

I'd agree that Bale wasn't consistent over the season, but he has been one of Spurs' most influential players despite that. He had some amazing games, particularly against Inter.

Another slightly patronising bit from Moyes about Coleman's lack of senior football before joining Everton:

    http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archiv...proved-player-

The Sky Sports presenter yesterday mentioned he'd been bought from "Sliggow Rovers." I almost went all Richard Keys on her but I managed to restrain myself.

Coleman is also missing from today's game with an ankle injury - seemingly a recurrence of the one that kept him out of Ireland's games.

What's patronising about that? There's a huge leap from playing LOI to the English Premier League. Plus he wasn't even playing at LOI level that long either....

sorry man, misunderstanding - i was referring to Bale for the overall award and then suggesting Adam for the overall award (not that he'd ever get it!)

That's because he was out injured a lot this season. I think he was the best player over the calendar year though, which I mistakenly thought the award was for, must have got mixed up with the world player award or something. Bale only started getting recognition after his performances against Inter, but he's been top class since breaking into the team in February (I think it was) when Assou-Ekkoto was out injured, and was the main reason Spurs qualified for the Champions Legaue.

There's way too much made out of Torres giving Vidic nightmares. One match he gave him big trouble and scored a couple of goals in other matches. Torres didn't get a kick in his first three matches against United. Played well in the 4-1, dispossessing Vidic for the equaliser. It was Gerrard who got Vidic sent off. He scored in his next two fixtures alright, one of which was completely Ferdinand's fault. Vidic has got the better of Torres in most of the matches against each other but people only tend to remember goals. Obviously he's quicker than him, but he's quicker than most in fairness.

Came off the bench today and won a penalty. Setanta correspondent said he lifted the crowd with his mazy runs.

I wonder if Coleman is a better winger than he is a full back? He's able to terrorize the likes of Ashley Cole, so is there any great need for him to revert to RB?

I see him as a potential world class right back if he can improve his defending. I really hope Moyes reverts him to right back in the pre-season
