I am just happy that Drogheda United FC is still a football club, whatever division it maybe in, the main thing is that it appears it will be still in the League of Ireland.

A question for you - how is Drogheda going into examinership and then coming out of it, good for the league as a whole?
How is the demise of yet another club in a large town good for the league exactly?

    Peace to you too!
Its good for the league that a club with a long history and a strong sustainable support in a town where its the only club survives, learns from its mistakes and grows stronger from it.

Why would the league be good WITHOUT them?????

I think he means that the entire episode was not good for the league, ie. the fact that they went into examinership in the first place.

Obviously, Drogheda getting out of it is a good thing on the whole.

He is just bitter becuase of the mess $hel$ got into and would love to see Drogs suffer more and be relegated, thats pretty clear from the messages.

This cycle has been going for decades. Teams just keep overstretching to win the league, anyone having a go at Drogs are complete hypocrits, what club with any sort of ambitition hasnt overstretched or been shafted by owners.

Does not seem a wide decision to pursue a Premier division licence on 250k annual budget. I can't see how United Park will get a licence for the Premier. Would seem more logical to use United Park in the first division than Oriel or somewhere else in the Premier.

They probably shouldn't get a premier licence but I hope they do. Can't wait for the Malone Cup meeting on Valentine's night now.

They definitely shouldnt get a licience for United Park, dont see why they wouldnt playing out of Oriel though, provided everything else is sorted out.

I can see there being a bit of ill feeling if the Revenue make things awkward for other clubs coming up to Licencing deadline. They should have objected really in the public interest and if the judge overrules them then fine. Not a go at Drogheda by the way but I know the Revenue certainly been demanding every last penny from clubs like ourselves.

I'm stunned that Drogheda escaped liquidation. A great Houdini act and congratulation must go to the fans who dug deep and bailed out their club.

drogs should be treated exactly like cork if one escapes relegation then so should the other. but if they both do then licensing wll be shown up for the farce it is.

I agree. It's a bit of a bad joke if both clubs can essentially write off their debts and only receive a ten point deduction. Having said that, if they have all their debts settled by the deadline then what can the licencing committee do?

    Thumbs up

a very good interview with hoey.. all his emotion came out of him.. i am delighted that they are still in football.. few of the crew that were behind hoey on the clip came down to flansiro for the sean prunty testinonial and that was well appreciated by the club..

it will take time but they will learn from the mistakes made...
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Quite comical and this coming from one of the men who nearly destroyed the club!!how much did hoey or any of the other head officers in the club actually contribute to all the fundraising over the past 2 months can any Drog fan tell me?
