Excellent performance in the first innings. Such a turnaround from the New Zealand match! Fingers crossed now..

Great bowling and fielding. If they could have got Jayawardene out earlier Sri Lanka might have collapsed.

The important thing is they have given themselves a chance.

He is, but it's more the situation. You can milk him for singles if you're going after the other bowlers, sadly Ireland didn't. Niall O'Brien, having kept brilliantly, cost them the game by not retiring when he did his ankle again. Lost too much momentum at that stage to recover.

It was the middle overs where Ireland lost it. When Sri Lanka were batting they had na good partnership & racked up the runs. On the other hand Ireland struggled in that period.

Malinga always going to pick off the lower order when chasing runs.

Overall very good performance by Ireland & looked comfortable at that level.

Commentators even talking about Niall O'Brien in team of the tournament.

Ireland knew they couldn't get anything from Muralitharan or Mendis and had to go after the seamers during the restricted overs (Malinga would mostly be bowling at the death.) They had limited success early on. Once NO'B realised he couldn't run he tried to go down in a blaze of glory by biffing everything, but sadly didn't succeed. The failure to turn ones into twos or twos into threes at that point cost Ireland the game. He should simply have retired hurt and let his brother come in.

I think Sheridan's right, NOB should probably have retired hurt. But an excllent effort all round by our boys.

I was there (Oval) yesterday, excellent atmosphere. Although a couple of brave India fans got thrown out for winding up the Pakistanis

Overall, it is a brave effort, they bowled and fielded excellently, the batting was better than previous games. I think NOB knew that he would probably not be playing tomorrow, so he wanted to continue as it would be his last game.

Bet West takes a bit of tap again. Dunno how he's still in the team.

He has struggled somewhat, his bowling looks a bit too slow even if he is a spinner.

He's actually a fast-medium bowler when he bowls seam up!

Great comeback over for TJ after being flayed in his previous three. Four singles, a wicket and a dot ball.
