Leagues Financial facts & Rumours thread

Seeing as there is so much problems in the league and world Financially i thought a thread would be the best place to comment on everything financial to do with the league. Everything seems to be spread out in threads about the financial mess. This is for facts and rumours.

For starters does anyone know what is going on at Bohs?
Surely by winning the league they've gotten a big windfall?

Also I heard a rumour that our financial problems are not getting any better

I can't recall off top-of head what the money for winning the league is, but I think it's in the €50-100k bracket. I think it's still less than the Setanta top prize (though the league money has gone up recently), and not what I personally would consider a 'big windfall' in football terms.

Regardless - with the rate they've been spending, I would be shocked if the money for winning the league was enough alone to take Bohs from shaky to firm financial ground.

The league winner last year got €225,000. It has gone up a bit this year but I don't know by how much. Still, it's more than the €50,000-€100,000 you suggest..

Edit: Premier Division winners get €250,000 for winning the 2008 title and another €260,000 from UEFA for qualifying for the CL.

    Good researchig HS !

I take it back - that's a handy sum of money.

Enough to dig Bohs out of any financial hole ? I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't.....

And you didn't enjoy any of the success that money bought either?

dont even bother sonofstan - the moved tread, the bitterness from some and the silence from others is good enough for me. Makes it all the more enjoyable, in fact.

Big thanks to all the magnanimous fans who actually did congratulate our achievements this year.

Well probably the players were on some sort of bonus for winning the league so i can imagine a big chunk of it would go to them bonuses.
But can anyone tell the full story of whats happening at Bohs?

Conor Sammon, not Quigley, AFAIK (although ultimately, you can't really split the money as it was a double transfer). Both from the initial transfer and from the sell-on to Kilmarnock.

While 225,000 and upward is a significant sum of money, and well done actually to Pat Fenlon and Bohemians on winning the league title at that, I'm not sure if its a figure that would take them to any level of stability really. I havent heard anything of late on the sale of Dalymount and the move to west Dublin which I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, much of Bohemians spending was based on but as I was aware, and again subject to correction, is now no longer going ahead.

The league is without doubt in dire straits and to be honest I wish people wouldn't use the economic downturn as a reason for this mess. It doesn't help but its about putting bums on seats regularly and sdly the league has not been achieving that for many a season at this stage and clubs were always going to suffer.

    Of course I did !!

All I was pointing out was the league winners money won't go too far when you think about the 3 to 4 months of an off season and the wages that need to be paid.

If you are in trouble that you need a 4million overdraft then the 250k wont do much for you as it will go on wages is what I was trying to say.

I thought if you owe money to another club it rules you out of a licence ?

Heard last night that Athlone players have not been paid in 3 weeks (though in fairness they haven't had a home game in ages.)

They were promised to get money last night, with a bumper Shels attendance there, but they weren't paid in the end.

Also no doctor in attendance - as required by league rules - when McCabe was stretchered off.
