Just saw this myself, no room for that in the Irish team.

Just ask "Roy Keane" what he thinks of that.

Am looking for old Irish matches on VHS, PM me if you have some and I'll upload them here
what does he have to do!!
and now trap is here for 2 more years. shocking
Play consistently well in the Premiership? Prove himself better than the other midfielders in the squad?
Seriously, anyone who thinks Keith Fahey's ommission from the squad is a major issue at the moment is smoking dope.
If he plays well between now and the New Year he'll have a chance of a call up for the spring squads. There is absolutely no need whatsoever to call him up for these crucial games.
anyone who hasseen Keith play or followed his career knows he should have had a look in since he was with Pats. It hasnt happened yet. Its a pity.
anyway, from BBC
It's all Birmingham now at St Andrews and Blues are getting closer as Keith Fahey's vicious volley rattles the crossbar.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Is he a better player than Andy Reid, Stephen McPhail or Owen Garvan, none of whom is in the squad? If any of those was in the LOI they'd be stand out players too. I'm pretty sure Liam Miller would be.
Is he a better central midfielder than Andrews, Whelan or Gibson? Is he a better wide player than Duff, McGeady, Hunt or Lawrence?
Fahey is a talented lad, no doubt. Lee Carsley speaks very highly of him. But it's by no means a disgrace or "shocking" that he's not in the squad. We have a settled squad ahead of two crucial games, probably 4. I see no compelling need or reason to call up Fahey right now.
You can argue something like this until the cows come home and it achieves nothing. Fahey has proven that he is good enough to be a regular for a Premiership side - full stop.
As it is, I don't see Fahey fitting into the system Trap plays and I'd be surprsied if he is called up to the squad anytime soon.

Fahey has done very well since he has gone over to England and is establishing himself as a solid Premier League player, he was also great with St.Pats while over here. But I dont see why people are so convinced he deserves a chance at International level and are "shocked" he isn't in the squad? At the moment Ireland are winning games and Trap has been relatively successful since taking the job, personally I dont see why Trap should risk this by playing Fahey (or any other midfielder of similar standard) at the moment.
I would love to see Fahey given a chance at this level and I think he would fit in with the standard of player Ireland currently have, but I am far from shocked that he is left out of the squad when we pretty much have a full squad to chose from whch Trap has clearly developed a system with since he took over.
Cmon County!
Nowhere near good enough for the international team in my book. People here just want him involved since he was involved in the LOI and for no other reason. There was equal outrage from this site when Roy O Donovan wasn't getting call ups, in retrospect I'd say it was just as well he wasn't.
There's a lot of players who play regularly for lower premiership sides that were never good enough. Derek Geary for example. Fahey isn't a bad player don't get me wrong but I could name 6 or 7 clear cut better options than him and another handful who are at least the same level.
There maybe a few that want him involved as they have a soft spot for him etc. But from reading your posts I think its clear you are anti LOI so if you are dismissing their posts as biased I think we can all dismiss your posts also. Now move on. The guy is good enough to be in the squad as he is as good if not better than Miller. However its possibly too late in the campaign to call him up. However if we win the group we will have free dates in November and if we get to play offs we will have friendlies in Feb and March/April next year.
In Trap we trust
He is clearly a talented player, but his style doesn't suit Trap's formation.
Even if he is good enough (debatable at this stage IMO), I don't think Trap would pick him for the same reasons that Andy Reid is excluded (not physical enough for the middle, yet not a true wide player).

For Centre Mids
Steven Reid
Glen Whealen
Keith Andrews
Andy Reid
Liam Miller
Lee Carsley
Darron Gibson
Chris McCann
Owen Garvan
If there really were dire straits on the injury front I'd rather play O'Shea and Kilbane in the middle than Fahey too.
So there's 11 for you. There's others like Delap, Stephen Quinn, Alan Quinn, O'Toole and Rowlands who I'd put Fahey on the same level as.
Hit the corssbar yesterday I see. Was unlucky, a good strike.

Gibson and McCann are far more talented players than Fahey, I think there's any case for arguing Fahey over those two. Miller and Garvan on their day are quite clearly better than Fahey on his day too, though their inconsistency could give you a case.
