I wouldn't know about all that.
Would you offer evens on Egan winning?

Good performance by Egan this morning. Looked very comfortable.

It is a pity RTE.ie don't have a section where you can view the Irish performances without them telling you the result. Sport isn't half as good if you know the result in advance.

Joyce loses on countback. Awful way to go out like Andy Lee four years ago.
I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

I think so. RTÉ said he needed to win one more to be guaranteed a medal.

I watched the Joyce fight earlier. I think he peaked too early. By the fourth, he seemed to be willing to run the clock out and wasn't too bothered about fighting Diaz.

I wouldn't offer any odds, I'd never heard of this Brazilian guy until now!

If he's got through two rounds, he's obviously fairly good and I'd give him better than a 1 in 6 chance.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Egan did the business again, looked in control

Joyce really messed up that one, esp near the end, and in a round about way he kind of deserved the warning. I reckon the same could happen to Nevin in his fight. I think the Dom Rep boxer deserved to win. Pity but thats Olympic boxing for you. To be fair Joyce would have found it hard to get anywhere near a medal. The boxers who remained looked very strong.- The Cuban- Russian tie should be a cracker.
I am looking forward to someone giving that Thai lad a good hiding

I've not seen the bout myself but from what I hear Joyce was very unlucky.

JJJ looked absolutely shattered to lose at the end, had to feel for the guy.
If only he could fight that first round again.

    Yes:
The two boxers who lose in the semifinals do not box-off for the bronze medal; instead, each receives a bronze.

    Cool.

So we've one guy that I saw through to the last 8; win that and we have a medal?

One guy got knocked out in the last 16; when are the other three up? Or did I miss them?

Ken Egan's quarter final is Tuesday I think. The Brazilian didn't look great but Egan has had trouble before when expected to win. Fingers crossed.

Joyce was unlucky in some respects.
However he didn't obey instructions. Billy Walsh was roaring at him after the 2nd round and told him exactly what to do. He won the 3rd round 5-1!
Slipped back again in last round although when he was ahead with 15 seconds to go it was tough to lose. He was in tears being interviewed.
    I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?

RTE making accusations that the female Chinese swimmers are on drugs. Not beyond the bounds of possibility but no mention of the "home factor" and how athletes/sportpersons in general perform much better on their home soil.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

All the 5 judges individual scores are counted and added together.

Lightweight 4 failed to make the final finishing 4th in their semi-final. They beat Italy and USA but lost out to Denmark, France and Great Britain
