Check him out tomorrow against Hutton. Celtic play Spurs in the Rotterdam tournament - think its on Setanta.

EDIT: Sky Sports 2 Not Setanta

Pity, they always had good battles against each other. Hutton's a very good player and seemed to enjoy the dual against McGeady a bit like Cole and Ronaldo used to.

Last night McGeady played as an out and out left winger in the first half and played inside in the 2nd half. He wasn't great but I have to say his left foot is incredible for a "weak" foot. He's learnt how to play a cross while running at full speed. In the past he used to have to stop or slow down before crossing.

He's the most "ambipedal" player in the world imho. I really don't know a player that doesn't seem to have a favourite foot.

where do you think Ireland should play McGeady eirebhoy? On the left, right or give him a free role? I watched the first half yesterday but both teams seemed to be in neutral gears and I didn't bother after that. Shocking backpass by Hartley(?) I must say.

He has to be played on the wing, doesnt matter which one, I dont think he is an intelligent enough footballer to have a free role... yet anyway
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Id agree with that. LeftWing for now, though equally competent on the right if needed, in the future Im sure he will develop in to a 'in the hole' type player.

Eirebhoy wake up and smell the coffee. It's a stretch to claim he's the most naturally two-footed player in Scotland but the world? Try to be a little less partial. Though to be fair when playing for Ireland I couldn't tell which was his good foot and which was his weaker one. He has been equally sh*te with both.

The amount of hype McGeady gets off some people on this site never ceases to amaze me. If McGeady was playing for England and was getting half as much unwarranted hype off their fans as he gets off ours we'd be pi**ing ourselves with laughter.

That's a little harsh YoungIrish. He's gotten plenty of stick here and elsewhere. He does seem to have a little extra though and when you're dealing with the crumbs that is the Irish team well sometimes it's ok to get a little carried away.

Not that much of a stratch, in Scotland the players than can genuinely claim to being two-footed are McGeady, Nakamura, and that's about it.

Try to be a little more impartial, by that definition he's equally good with both feet.

The closest England have to a two-footed winger, who's won 3 league titles, and 5 cups, as well as having played and scored in the Champion's League is Joe Cole.

He played very well against Feyenoord last night on the right of a 4-3-3 formation. Much better performance.

Which says a lot about you and your opinion of McGeady. McGeady is without a shadow of a doubt the most naturally 2 footed player in Scotland. I'm sure there were people watching the Spurs game thinking he had no right foot because he was doing everything with his left. The only reason I know he's a right footer is from interviews and his set pieces. Although, I did see him take a corner with his left foot once and his technique was exactly the same.

Duff and Naka can play a decent cross with their right foot but they'd need to slow the ball down and even then it's clear from their technique that it's their weak foot. You genuinely can't tell the difference with McGeady. crossing, passing, dribbling, shooting... he's just as good with either foot imho.

I post in this thread so much because I watched 98% of the games he's played in his career and, like Duff in his prime, he's a player that excites me. I don't hype him up any more than he deserves and he's actually a much better player than I thought he'd be at this stage in his career.

Which says a lot about you and your opinion of McGeady.
It says more about about yours that you could claim because he's the most naturally two footed player in Scotland he's also the most naturally two footed player in the world. This is a ridiculous claim. He's nowhere close. He would be a slightly above average player in a decent league I've said this all along and I've seen nothing in the past three seasons to change my opinion of him. Another 5 years at Celtic playing against Dundee United, Inverness and Failkirk every weekend will do him the world of good together with his 3 or 4 Champions League games against decent opposition before Celtic get knocked out.

I remember you hyped Shaun Maloney in a similar fashion a few seasons ago. Just because he looked World Class in the SPL you claimed he would be a top Premiership player. I claimed he'd be average at best in a decent league. We were both wrong he's been rubbish for Villa even worse than I thought he would be.

Eirebhoy be a bit more realistic,. The SPL is garbage. Most of the players are playing in it because they are not good enough to forge a decent career in a more competitive league. McGeady is staying at Celtic because up there he looks brilliant while he would struggle to hold down a regular place in a decent Premiership team week in, week out.

thats a pretty closed and conservative opinion of the kid. He can be a joy to watch and he's a standout player in an average league and he is clearly very comfortable on both feet. Not the best two footed player in the world but could be up there if he continues to progress. Whether he can add some smarts to his game remains to be seen.

Maloney never was half the player that McGeady is (or at least can be).
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I don't know where you came up with that one. Blatant misqoute.

Maloney has started 18 games for Villa. He's scored 7 goals which isn't bad. He hasn't got many chances on the left and I've been impressed with most of what I've seen from him. I still believe Maloney's an excellent player. Probably on par with McGeady imo but McGeady is improving every part of his game at top rate.

Reminder: 90 minute McGeady documentary on Celtic TV at half 7.

Where did you get that "ambipedal" word from Eirebhoy?
Full marks, it's a good one.
McGeady is forcing us to find new word to describe his qualities

John Giles in his day was an ambipedlar, although he was left footer, his right was
    better than anybodies good foot.

    The internet.

Yeh it was good except for repeating so many clips when there's tons they could use. Aiden's father said he made sure Aiden learnt the things that he never learnt when he was younger. The only example he gave was that when he (dad) found out that being able to just use his right foot wasn't going to be enough it was too late. He made Aiden use both feet as soon as he began to kick a ball. It was good to see the clips of him volleying the tennis and golf balls as it was mentioned in one of the first newspaper articles about him.

I never knew that he played for Arsenal youths in a tournament abroad (Paris?). Teams from all over the world including Brazil and McGeady won player of the tournament and his every touch applauded by the crowd.

He was a little drunk in the dressing room at the end of last season by the looks of it.
