does anyone know is there a rule about playing 3 games in six days? why have avenue got to play thurs, sunday and then again tues. then have to wait at least sunday week for final game v nwkt. by the time tuesday game v rineanna most will only be at aound 70%. its a proven fact and that they are also more open for serious injury. i know club asked lydon and even came up wth a solution. let lifford play rineanna on tues and avenue play them tues/ wed/thurs the following week (r even give us till thursday). u can guess his answer. do u want to be fix sec. etc. u train ur balls off for the year and then clowns running the league lob this at you. if they had two brains they'd be twice as thick.
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

Its absolutely crazy to ask players to play 3 games like that. Professionals wouldnt do it. You are just asking for injuries.
I thought you were supposed to be allowed at least 3 days rest between games. But when did the Clare league concern themselves about players. They do the same with underage teams too.
If its any consolation Newtown have the same fixture list as ye and Bunratty have it even worse playing Friday Sunday and again on Tuesday. They wont have 11 players fit for the Cup semi after this weekend.

Bunratty play 3 games in 5 days so thats even worse...

Main problem for lg is referee's availability... Some are available some nights and not others and this is just a fact of life as they have jobs ect too. If lg had 15 refs available every day then we would have no problems.

Also Moher, who we play Friday wont play any game midweek. They only play Friday's and Sunday's so lg are tied down here too.

Lets not lay all the blame on M Lydon's door as in fairness he has a very tough job which he does better than anyone else could, imo....

    Any predictions for tonight????

    TCFKAN 1-1 Avenue
    Bridge Celtic 2-2 Newmarket

(for those of you confused... TCFKAN--- The Club Formerly Known As Newtown.)

If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

Good win for Newmarket again last night. Very consistent in the lg. Only 1 defeat says it all really.

When was the last time they won the Premier lg?

1995 was the last time. They are due one. They have one hand on it but 3 games left and anything can happen.

Anyone at the Newtown Avenue game.

Anyone at the Newtown Avenue game.
Newmarket definately the strongest team this year. But they need to finish the job now.

Newtown v Avenue was a decent game. Avenue never really created anything only threat was from corners and free kicks, they have a big physical team. Newtown created the better chances and probably should have nicked the win.
you are only a loser when you stop trying. Playing sport does not build character, it reveals it.

    Bridge Celtic 0 Newmarket 3

Goals scored by Eoin Hayes 2 and jamie egan, both youths. was a very physical game and ref bottled about 4 straight red card for bridge celtic players. lads its not sour grapes as we won the game but how somebody didint get seriously hurt last night i will never know. it seems bridge are intent on kicking lumps out of teams to try and avoid the drop.

Cant really see Newtown goin down below Bridge Celtic. I know Newtown would rather have the points rather than the games but I think they looked strong enough to stay up.(not that it matters) The league is as good as Newmarkets imo as Avenue didn't seem up to much at all.

I heard the same. The simple way to deal with that sort of player is to book him for first dirty tackle, warn him that next 1 will be red, if he does it again then send him off. Keep doing it if it has to be like that. Its the only way.

On a serious note Smellyfeet!!Do you think Dermot Finnan will be the Park FC manager next year??With the likely influx of players from Newtown do you think Park FC will be a force again like they were a few years back??

Have to agree. If i were a bookie id be paying out on Newmarket now. I think the real battle will be at the bottom to see who goes down with Kildysart directly or through a playoff. Bunratty & newtown have the advantage with games in hand but both have 3 games over a few days and they will be knackered by the third game on Tuesday. Newtown have two six pointers with Bridge Celtic and Burren. Bunratty will beat Kildysart on Sunday but after playing Friday and Sunday they wont be able for Newmarket probably the fittest team in the league. IMO Bridge Celtic running out of games so they really have to beat Newtown or they will go down.

I know the quetion was not for me, but, are Newtown going to be happy paying a manager? i can only presume the topic arose....the players are in shannon all the time to be a force, i think its motivation is the key..back a few years niell o brien (nobber) had them enjoying there game.and not getting payed and won a couple of cups..personaly i wouldnt pay a manager so finnan would walk..

Surely the likes of Philip Purcell and Davy Wall(if he leaves his beloved Pike of course) would consider signing for Park FC!
As for Dermot Finnan, his record speaks for itself!

I wouldnt bet on the fixtures on the 11th going ahead at all. Newmarket should beat Burren and could have the league wrapped up on the bank holiday weekend (could be some weekend in the cusack stand) Depending on results over the next week relegation places could well be decided by then too. I doubt if too many teams would bother with the last round of games if everything is already decided.

First division relegation battle could go all the way though. Kilmaley & Tage in trouble. Rock have games in hand but the cup could be a big distraction. As for the title Bridge have the points on the board but my moneys on corofin who have games in hand and being out of the cup could help them.

Second division still close but turnpike in pole position. Rhine Rovers running away with the third division. They have an incredible record. Does anyone know what the Clare League all time points and goals scored record is? Are Rhine close to it?? Undefeated with an average of 4 goals per game is unbelievable.
