true enright could have got the line but the view must have conceded 20 odd frees in first half alone and not one booked til the hour mark, also purcell got off without even a booking for a blatant elbow on hartnett.

Its definately Pike's league to lose now,Only tough game left is Balla at home.

And hoops12 there's no need to reply to each post indivually, simply copy and paste the quotes you want to reply to,there's no need to make 4 posts for 4 different replies and have us scroll down half the page to seem them...

i think it would of been a different game if fairview had a full team, doyle was a big loss while kelleher had play even though he had the flu.it was just bad timing for fairview.pike should win the league now

I must have been watching a different game lads because i thought Jason Purcell was one of the better players on the pitch in what was a very very scrappy affair.

Is that an excuse I hear? Seiously Fairview were missing what 2 players at most?
Pike were without O'Grady(Suspended),Smackers(Ankle),J Enright(Ankle),3 starters on a full Pike team.Your right though if both sides had full players it would have been a different score line, more like 4-0 pike then 3-1...And I'd say Kelleher with/without the Flu would have taken the same time to turn around, looked more like the michelin man than Cristiano Ronaldo..

Pike had good preformances today in key places,Enright at the back,Hartnett/Corbett in the Middle and Moloney up front.Whereas Fairview simply didn't,Purcell for all his lauding on here,Was out done by a battered Hartnett, with Moloney and Boyler causing big problems at the back for Fairview...

apart from doyle who else was missing, pike had only 2 subs,o grady was a big loss as was jamie enright and we were also missing our first choice goalkeeper.

these games will always have aspects of scrappiness especially when there is so much at stake but i thought pike played some good football for their goals as was the build up to the view goal.and purcell i thought was overan in the middle

I dont agree with most of that - cant see how you think Purcell was out done by hartnett when the bloody midfield was by passed due to the ball being constantly in the air and to be fair he would want to be outdoing a 35 year old the way some of the Pike contingent go on about him.Why the criticism of Jason Purcell,he would still do a job on any team in this town and is in my opinion one of the top 4/5 junior players to have played in this town in the last 20 years and Hartnett although a very good player in his own right will never be as good as him in his prime.
Anyone who seen the Fai match between the sides will know that Christy Doyle today was a massive loss for fairview as he gave Pike a torrid time that day with his pace - would the players you mentionned above have such an influnece - i dont think so but thats all here say and counts for jack ****.
Anyway well done to Pike on a well deserved victory and they should press on now and win the league.

When your looking at midfield you have to look at the players each player had beside them-Purcell in my opinion was trying to do the job of 2 players as the game just passed young Christy Doyle by.

If you look back at the last 100 pages or so,you'll see that Keith Hartnett is largely defended on these forums, and what you don't seem to get is that today's match isn't affected by what a player could do 10/20 years ago,its all about the here and now.Credit where credit is due in fairness..Keith was battered around the pitch today, but still kept getting up.

O'Grady today was a massive loss, breaks up the majority of play for Pike,Smackers can actually move in goals, take his own Kickouts and move freely in his box(although today Ian did very well, vastly improved from the Carew park match),And enright playing Left back would free up Pat McGarry to show his ball skills.

Dont get me wrong i think Hartnett is a very good player.

I dont rate O Grady to be honest - no matter how much ball the guy wins he cant a pass a ball 5 yards - Freeing up Mc Garry could have had a major influence on the game as he is an exceptional player - Pikes best in my opinion.
How is Dave Wall doing for ye - have seen him playing a few times this season and he dont look like the same player he was a few years ago.

He isn't,seems to have lost his interest in playing,I'd say most who were there today would have said he looked lost out there.Albeit he was playing in central midfield roll and he's probably better suited to playing off the lead striker. Shows flashes of the Davy Wall from a few seasons back occasionally..

    Foot.ie!

deserved win for pike, the view looked good in first 20mins but from there on pike started to dominate and while j.purcell had some influence in 1st half he faded in the 2nd and was outshone by hartnett.both enright and purcell excellent for pike though it has to be said that r.kelliher is a pale shadow of his former self.the views experienced players didn,t do it,higgins, cosgrave, fitzgerald, purcell and to a lesser extent buckley.

To be honest, i think Pike were very lucky against us! They tried to bully us and it worked, shambles! Hartnett overrated still!
