pipedreams. all people that take over clubs say that they'll be getting a new ground eg liverpool and many others but a lot of the time nothing happens. i cant see how they would finance it as they are at a million euro loss before the season starts, and thats from their own mouth. to find a suitable site in cork wont come cheap, your talking millions for the site before any development is done.

but good luck to them if they can do it. it would be good to see.

It costs €2,000,000 to run Cork City per year, perhaps that "revealation" from tynan which Spillane misquoted as "Cork City lose €2,000,000 a year" is what you mean?

For the investment company, City are an excuse to build a large entertainment facility; any success for us is a bonus. Not just millions, €35 to 40 million actually.

i can understand the fact that city want a place to call there home, but its seems a bit to amitious, 20,000 seats, maybe 10,000 but with the cost of land these days you would wanna make it worth it, so would have to be 20,000, bohs new 10,000 seater is gonna cost E20m, i cant see any club with no assets getting that sort of money, ye have just given yer grants to the MFA, so i cant see the FAI helping ye out,

but in sayin that cork city and munster are the only 2 non gaa associations that would make use of such a facitlity, plus it would make a nice change to the marque,
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Arkaga have said they will be spending €35m to €40m on a 28,000 seater stadium in one of a couple of locations, with talk that one location has already been settled upon and will feature the things you'd expect from a modern stadium/entertainment campus. theres lots more info on it from the initially statement last summer and the "leak" just after christmas. The stadium would be self-financing, in that they will be taking the investment of their members and looking to return a profit within 10-15 years. No grants, no MFA, no FAI, no need for collateral assets, nothing. Cork City were simple a cheaply available club in an underserviced city in the most popular sport in the country with the potential to perhaps down the line add a few 'big event' dates to the owner's calendar.

i can see what your saying, a lot of events could be held in the new stadium hence making it more viable.

on what tynan said, on the echo he is quoted as saying the club will be projecting a loss of 1,000,000, im sure of that. but then again he mightnt be quoted correctly but thats what the echo said at the time.

There in lies the problem. People say you shouldn't always believe was you read in the papers, but i disagree with that. You should actually find out who wrote the piece and try and find out how incredible credible the guy is.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
