A guy like him can create a goal from absolutely nothing.

Man City were giving him no space at all and he nearly got it over the keeper from about 20 yards out.

I don't see the harm in having him in the squad, but I believe it's a borderline choice.

As one of the last players in the squad I'd take him, for the simple reason that he's in form (when is the man not?).

If Stan was then impressed in training, put him on the bench, and if we need a goal, bring him on for half an hour or 20 minutes to go.

As mentioned before, age means nothing in international football, it's all about form.

I didn't hear many people complaining when Carsley was called back into the squad, he's not exactly a recent graduate out of the youth squad at Everton.

If the man is in better goalscoring form than our other strikers in the Championship, then have him as one of the last picks of the squad, no harm done.

NO! Have some people completely lost the plot...

    1.Hes fat
2.Hes crap! If he was any good at age 29 he would be in the premiership by now.
    3.Hes not Irish
4.Hes a ****** who thinks he is better than he actually is.
    5.Hes fat

Where has this come from? He is not even on the top scorers page in the championship. Just because he says he is desperate to play for ireland doesnt mean we should include him, christ, I want to play for ireland but I'm also crap and old so I dont.

I don't know much about Trundle, but I know Ronaldo & Maradona were fat - so maybe that's the answer - more fatsos

Going by the figures published here he has one of the lowerest BMI of the strikers. He is as Irish as you are.

    1. I await to see any evidence showing Trundle to be overweight.

    2. Are you that ignorant that you consider the Premiership to be the be all and end all of football? There are a number of quality players that aren't in the Premiership for various reasons, and a good number sh1t players who are in the Premiership, for whatever reason. Eg- Titus Bramble is a Premiership player and is awful. Last year, Jason Koumas and David Nugent were lower league players but were undoubtedly good enouh to play at the higher level. For various reasons like clubs demanding unrealistic prices (we asked £2m for Lee 2 years ago which is way too much), players don't always get the moves they deserve.

    3. Nor have a good number of your players been over the last few decades. Furthermore, he has always said he's wanted to play for Ireland and turned down a call from Lawrie Sanchez 2 years ago so he's not just doing it to boost his career.

    4. And how good is he then? Bearing in mind, he's been a hit at every level of football he's ever played, and that bar keeps rising.

    5. See 1, though the fact that you used that argument twice indicates to me that you're not capable of holding a reasonable debate on the matter.

Sorry if this sounds too blunt, but really, read over this thread. I've answered all these arguments before.

At his age you would expect that he has only a couple of seasons playing at the top of his game left in him. Strikers generally don't last as long as defenders.

It would be far better to blood the future talent in the games that Doyle or Keane are not available than waste caps on a lost cause.

Did you watch the games he participated in during the week and weekend and you still think he is worth a place... Honestly now all jokes aside do you fancy him???

I wonder if he will still be able to do this when he is 31?

How often have you seen him play or are you basing your assessment of him purely on his last two matches? I don't see Kevin Doyle setting the world alight these days and no one has a bad word to say about him.

No. Fortunately, I have had the benefit of watching him play 100+ games for Swansea, so am well aware of his ability.

Given the choice between being pedantic and being wrong, I'll take pedantic every time.
