Was at the Cork game last night. Not sure about Stokes, seems more interested in mouthing off than playing. If Keane doesn't straighten him out no one will, but time will tell. Miller is slipping back a little - no longer international quality IMO. Colin Healy was every bit as good I think.

I blame O'Shea, he passed the ball back to the Czechs before McShane or Henderson got into position, then turned his back while the free was taken quickly, and by the time he realised what was happening, Koller had scored.

That's true too, all three could have prevented it.

I thought Maybury didn't even get a squad number and was being released? Odd that he'd be made captain for the game.

I forgot about Andy Reid until his name was mentioned in another thread. Just looked up Charlton's last pre-season game against Gillingham:

Andy Reid played his part in the opening four goals with a Simon King own goal and a Jerome Thomas penalty completing the nap hand.
    ...
The keeper was beaten four minutes later with Thomas inches away from giving the visitors the lead.

Reid's slipped through-pass took a slight deflection into the path of the winger as he cut in from the left.

And his cute chip beat former teammate Royce all ends up but sailed fractions over the bar.
    ...
And he re-emerged with a bandaged head but no sooner had the hosts been restored to their full compliment than they fell behind on 14 minutes.

Reid was the architect again, finding Todorov on the edge of the box and the Bulgarian did supremely well to keep his balance with Simon King's arms all over him.
    ...
The home keeper stretched out an arm to deny Todorov a minute later after the Bulgarian latched on to another incisive Reid pass, and the visitors continued to press impressively.
    ...
it was 2-0 on 28 minutes with Ambrose bagging his second.

Inevitably Reid was involved teeing up his midfielder partner to rifle a terrific low drive into the bottom left corner.
    ...
Offensively the Addicks were looking sharp and they bagged a third six minutes before the break as Todorov converted his first goal in Charlton colours.

The Bulgarian collected possession on the right and fed Reid on the edge of the box.

As quick as a flash the Irishman threaded a piercing pass through the blue rearguard back to Todorov and the striker produced a clinical low finish from an acute angle.
    ...
The hosts made four changes at the break but it made little difference to the pattern of the game as Charlton struck home a fourth goal two minutes after the restart.

Reid found Thomas on the left with a crossfield pass and the winger made good ground before centring in the direction of Todorov in the middle.

King got there before the Bulgarian but sadly for the hosts could only steer the ball into his own net.
    ...
Moutaouakil made way for Matt Holland in the 58th minute with Semedo slotting in at right back and the visitors went close again three minutes later with Thomas, for the second time in the game, a whisker away.

Reid found the wideman in an advanced position on the left and as Royce dashed out to meet him Thomas lifted the ball over him but watched the ball bounce just past the upright.

He started the first game against Welling but went off with an achilles injury after 36 minutes and was replaced by another Irishman, Elliot. Weaver has started the other 3 games. Elliot was on the bench against Gillingham.

McGeady must be learning from Nakamura. Nice free kick off the bar after 30 seconds here:

Has Stokes ever impressed playing in deep role? He's bloody frustrating to watch. Put him up front!

Keane started for Spurs tonight behind Berbatov and Bent. He scored the first 2 goals, 1 a peno.

    Connolly just scored for Sunderland.

It'll be interesting to see how Keane does in the next few months. Berbatov is the first name on the teamsheet and Jol didn't spend 16 million pounds on a bench warmer. This will be a test of his his character.
I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

I reckon bent was signed with an eye on him being Berbatov's replacement. If Berbo has another savage season, they wont be able to hold onto him, whether they qualify for champions league or not. Keano's a better player than bent and defoe, he will prevail, ive no doubt about that

I can't see him having much problems if he's in this kind of form. He's the captain now that King is injured again.

Has Joey O'Brien recovered from injury yet? Physioroom.com says that he isn't injured but he hasn't featured in pre-season as far as I can see.

Pity he'll be playing Championship. Once he gets a run of form going he could be one of our best players.

Been on the bench a few times, but I don't think he's made an appearance yet
