The federal tax laws are contained in the Internal Revenue Code, also known as Title 26 of the United States Code, which is the compilation of laws passed by the Congress. The Internal Revenue Code
is the law that requires people to pay taxes.
A. Sections 1, 61, and 63
impose the tax,
B. Section 6012 requires you to
file a tax return if you have income of more than the exemption amount, and
C. Section 6151 requires you to
pay the tax at the time and place fixed for the filing of your return
What I found interesting was that the two ex-IRS workers said they both hadn't filed tax returns in years. If you are owed a refund, you have up to three years to file for it otherwise you lose it. I'm just wondering, are these two paying their taxes and not filing for a refund for some reason?
Sorry, I was bored!
