Hmm. Well Mr. Bev Coop Flynn is a developer, if I'm not greatly mistaken.

I'm sure that there is no link.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

Maybe Daddy let her in on the family business secrets?

    Thumbs down

I think now the facts have emerged RTE were correct to settle with Flynn as they would have got less money if they made her bankrupt.

Flynn has said she will pay the debt herself & not rely on family or friends. If she has a house would net 250k where is she getting the other 1m? I think she mentioned a loan but how could she get a loan if she has no assets?

At the risk of repeating myself I can't wait to hear how Bertie explains why he re-admitted her to FF. Even better I can't wait for FF-ers to justify admitting her...

No problem - she'll just declare the debt a business expense and offset it against tax.

He can't, and to echo Reder, isn't Pee Flynn due up in the Mahon Tribunal soon?

He sure is. He will be asked to explain the claims by Tom Gilmartin that he accepted 50k bribe/donation/payment.

In fairness to Be Flynn she can't be asked to explain Pee Flynns dealings.

In related news apparently Bertie is keen to have the Mahon Tribunal closed sooner rather than later.

Yes, and many of those claims involve Bartholomew himself....

No, but who knows the effect on daddy of seeing his daughter looked after and back in the fold?

While there is quiet possibly some truth in there I don't Gilmartins word would be accepted in a Court as he is allover the place.

While everyone is entitled to a presumption of innocence I don't think it's acceptable that our leaders and betters resort to the lowest legal principles of "can you prove I done it?". ...particularly one who has form for "irregular financial arrangments"
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"

I just think Gilmartin has undermined his own credibility with some wild accusations.

Sorry, I'm obviously being too subtle for you. It is possible that Pee Flynn could corroborate Gilmartin's evidence against Bartholomew.

But pete, that's just how it's being spun. Most of what he's testifying is what he says Owen O'Callaghan told him, he's not claiming to have direct evidence of it actually taking place. This is being spun by FF as he making up wild accusations to discredit it him. Pretty much like they did with every other witness ever before the tribunal that has made allegations against FF politicians

Well look at all the wild rumours that no one believed that have proven to be true.... eg Ray Burkes, Liam Lawlor and CJH.... they tried for years to discredit the Tribunals but in the end they were shown up for what they were.... who would of belived that a character such as Frank Dunlop was going around with a bag of cash bribing politicians ??? Sure Gilmartin has said some outrageous stuff but the other side of that is to ask why does the likes of Bertie want to wind down the Mahon tribunal ?? I don't accept its on the basis that it is a waste of taxpayers money, the reason being that although the tribunals are a very slow and cumbersome way of finding out what happened, overall their has being a substantial net gain to the exchequer in terms of monies , no Gilmartin knows what he's talking about albeit he is a little confused on dates but the tribunal staff will i believe use the info gleaned from him to show where their was coruption and by whom... based on the publics reaction to such findinds thus far not sure however whether it will effect FF, sure we'll get the usual "...ah jaysus well dat was in de past.. I tink it's time for us te move on..."

Sure it was only a few quid kept back from the Revenue Commissioner.........what's the harm in that?.......nobody got hurt....... nobody got killed!........they would be better off going after the real criminals

As Bertie said himself its time to move & forgive pass transgression & look to the future.

40% of the voters elected FF so does this prove voters don't care enough about bribery, fraud & corruption?

It proves that 40% of people only think of themselves, the "sure I'm alright Jack" mentality that's prevalent in large parts of Irish society.
And you ask me to help you??!! Man is evil!!!! Capable of nothing but destruction!
