Would he say that about his own club?

Stop interrupting. Unless you're taking a cheap shot at Shels you have no business in this thread.

I'm trying to spread my cheap shots evenly.

I don't know if theres much point in adding dublin clubs to the A CHampionship as there will be at very least 4 dublin reserve teams in it anyway.

How many Dublin Clubs are there all together? Dublin is the largest city on the Island, and if it is going to be saturated, then maybe (and this may have already happened) the senior clubs could look into 'adopting' the smaller teams as feeder clubs?
I know up here in Belfast we have too many clubs - Linfield, PSNI, Queens (South), Glentoran, Dundela (east), Crusaders, Cliftonville, Brantwood (North) and Donegal Celtic (west). Used to have Distillery as well, but they moved to Lisburn. That is just the ones I can remember right now, and I am sure there are a few more.. but without doubt, so many teams cause the talent pool to be too diluted, and spread out, resulting in people, who may not be good enough, a chance to play at the highest level.

I have a few mates who are/where Fingal CC Councillors, might give them a shout after the elections to see what they have in regards to planning etc.. see how far this has gone.

Having said that, if the new team are going to start from the bottom and work their way up, that has to be admired.. the problem comes when they start to steal fairweather supporters who may decide to follow the new team instead of the established clubs.. especially if they start winning all the time and get promotion quickly (a la AFC Wimbledon)

    Bolded teams are Premiership
Shelbourne FC Longford Town FC Drogheda United FC Glentoran FC Derry City FC Cork City FC

All fallen beneath the Linfield Sword
    Audaces Fortuna Juvat

The point being made is they're not starting at the bottom

There's no need for a senior club in this fictional place known as fingal. Drogheda already has a fan base in Balbriggan and Bohs is planning to move pretty far north anyway. there are probably too many clubs in the Dublin area as it stands, well illustrated by the failure of Dublin City and the inability of one Dublin team or an other at any time to get have their books in order.(ie. Shels this year Rovers last year)

If anybody is looking for a place to set up a new senior club they should look no further than Meath, large and growing population with no club. Not like in Dublin where there are plenty of clubs. Three of which are currently playing within an asses roar of each other.

You do realise by moving to Meath they will actually be moving closer to Dublin?

Potential new areas for A-League Franchises...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...nd/Largest_100

    - Navan: close to Drogheda and other Dublin clubs.

    - Ennis: close to Limerick

    - Tralee/Killarney: good prospects, possiblity of making Kerry League into a club team?

    - Carlow: close to Kilkenny

    - Kildare towns: already served by County

    - Mullingar: close to Athlone, Longford

    - Clonmel: traditionally a lot of support for Waterford.

    - Portlaoise/Tullamore: big space with no nearby team in Laois/Offaly/North Tipp region. Failed team in Thurles.

    - Castlebar: another option, not a lot of support behind Mayo League team though.

    - Cavan: not far from Longford, Monaghan

So adding a team to Kerry, Mayo and the midlands would give an almost complete geographical reach across the country. Starting below the league level in a regional competition may encourage some of the better run non-league clubs to make the leap.

If there was a Navan club, Parkvilla of the LSL would be prime candidates, unless there was a new club set up.

According to this: http://www.rbk.no/incoming/article82220.ece (you wont understand the text, though)

A delegation from Dublin has been to trondheim to learn from Rosenborg, withthe view to setting up a new "big club" in Dublin/Ireland.

Joe Carr, mayor of Fingal, Dublin (it says) along with former gooner John Devine and 9 others have been visiting.

Know anything about those news? A new club?
