City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
did you miss the news? city turned down a league record bid for one of our strikers. how does selling alan bennett for a league record fee constitute being a selling club?
we need money as our "sugar daddy" is reaching the stretching point of his resources. it'll happen to you some day.

When Drogs receive any bid for their players we will talk about selling clubs. You are lucky have Directors subsidising but that does not necessarily mean club well run. How many IAG off-field points did you get?
We will see but no sign of it yet. Two Pats players moved to the SPL (good business by Pats) but City player moves to the Premiership which are worlds apart.
So far you have sold Bennett, O'Callaghan, Doyle and Long in the last two seasons. We have sold none. You could not retain Murphy and Fenn
Our IAG points were because our ground in poor, that's why we have to move. We would have got higher points if the Leinster Football Association let us play in a 5000 seater stadium but we must plow our own furrow.
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week
In fairness you have to look at it in context too. 3 of those 4 players are now playing for premiership clubs. How many premiership/high championship clubs have come in for your players? Can you honestly say your club would have rejected the record breaking bid we got for Benno for one of your players?
Rico has said already that if it had been southend coming in for Bennett he'd still be a city payer, but the players ambition plays a part too. The club has to come first but if a player doesnt wanna play for a club and wants a move theyl get it.
The George situation was completely different and just a disaster on all parts.

We turned down €400k for Jason Gavin after the 2005 FAI cup final (remember that one?). the bidding club was Reading.
Can somebody please tell me how much Cork City got for Bennett? If you throw a figure at me then prove that figure is correct. The figure is officially undisclosed. Some of the figures being bandied about on City Web vary from €250K to €580K. If you got so much did you ever think why your chairman is reluctant to tell all of you how much he got and be back as a hero with the fans?
Also - have you got a sponsor yet, none last year and time is pushing on this year. Only Kearney signed for the new season.

There was a confidentiality clause in the contract...dont know who asked for it
but the widely accpeted figures are E380, with E75k for 10 appearances, money for international cap(not sure how much) 10% sell on clause and a friendly.
Not as much as he's worth but Bennos ambition and professionalism had a lot to do with it apparently.
The bid e turned down for Roy was higher again but not sure how much exactly.
The friendly will bring in a good bit of cash for us with all the barstoolers coming out to see the internationals![]()
Do you have a link for that Gavin bid? Didnt hear about that
NIssan were our sponsors last season. New ones havnt been named yet.
Yep only Kearney so far.
Tbh more worried/interested in new investors than new players at the moment. Most important thing is to get the club on solid financial footing, then we can worry about trying to win stuff again
The last person to mention Colin Healy was me, 10 or so posts ago. Why are you picking on me? Have a pop about your own fans who are not discussing Healy![]()
Anyway for Peader's sake I'll bring it back to the gentleman mentioned in the topic. Has he signed yet, or is there any movement. I stil think it would be a great move for Cork

Trained with the lads in Bishopstown Saturday.
Is meant to have an offer from Falkirk i believe or else a trial, i'm unsure.

Former Irish international, Colin Healy, in talks with Cork City
Date: Monday, 12 February 2007
Section: eircom League
Colin Healy, former Irish international midfielder, will have talks with Cork City this week with a view to signing a contract after being released by Barnsley.
Healy, who is 26, had a very promising career with Sunderland and at international level upset when he suffered two separate leg breaks after joining the club in 2003.
He began to re-build his career in Scotland with Livingston in the 2005/’06 season and joined Barnsley at the beginning of the current season.
He trained with Cork City over the week-end and will sit down to talks with City manager, Damien Richardson, this week.
Healy played under-age football in Cork with Ballincollig before he was signed by Celtic, where he found an admirer in Martin O’Neill.
He went to Coventry City on loan for the 2001/’02 season and did so well with them that he was called into the Irish squad by then manager Mick McCarthy to make his debut on February 13, 2002 at Lansdowne Road against Russia.
He was named ‘Man of the Match’ and impressed also in the following two internationals against Denmark and Russia, again. His arrival came too late for him to make the World Cup squad for the finals in South Korea and Japan.
However he was regarded as a regular for the European Championship that followed until he suffered the first of his unfortunate injuries. Overall he played in 13 internationals for Ireland and scored once, against Finland. His last international was against Switzerland on October 11, 2003.
Cork City will be without their right-back Neal Horgan for the Setanta Sports Cup competition as he is currently on a two week training stint with American MLS side Colorado Rapids.
Cork will now start their season without three of what has been their regular back four for the past three seasons.
With Danny Murphy already in Motherwell and Alan Bennett now with Premiership side Reading, the only familiar faces in the Cork defence for the start of the season will be captain Dan Murray and goalkeeper Michael Devine.
Horgan, who holds an American passport, has however insisted that the decision to train with Rapids does not mean that he is definitely leaving Cork City.
"I have decided nothing. The next two weeks is all about them (Rapids) having a look at me and me having a look at them," said Horgan.
"The reason I am pursuing this is primarily because I want to further my legal education and want to eventually sit the American Bar Exams.”
Horgan, who is 27, is out of contract with Cork. He made his senior debut with Cork City in 2000, having joined the club in 1998.
Rico will sit down with Colin tomorrow, with a view to agreeing terms. He is just one of 3 players that Rico hopes to sign by Saturday.
The club are also in negotiations with Billy Woods, after offering him a 1 year contract.
Have Boot Disk, will travel
no rumours of who the other 2 players he hopes to sign are?
