My banning

I assume Peader has also been banned for the last weeks as well? For ageist and ungentlemanly remarks?

What if Peader had of compared my introductory post with the post I made in the hooligan thread, but instead of ridiculing my age he had of ridiculed my race... Would he not be banned instantaneously? Why the exception? Does Foot.ie condone bigotry?

Here is a definition of "bigot" I found online.

One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ

It doesnt mention age.

If Peadar had referred to your race in the same way as he referred to your age, I think it would have been bigotry, and he would have been banned. But he didnt.

Having read the thread, I have to say I felt Peadar did nothing to warrant a ban, while your personal attack did break the rules.

He was warned. I do not believe there is a right to appeal as was handed by the highest source here.

Am I understanding this correctly? Its 12:30, and I hope Im not. You are upset because someone made fun of your age? And you told him your age. Are you wasted? I can understand being upset at everything else he may of said, but not the age. Perhaps its none of my business...good night

I really couldn't care less, and no I wasn't offended (Tis the internet, there are plenty of wierdo's like Peader running about on it) but was just wondering why Peader was not banned for bigoted behaviour.

And oh, your definition of 'bigoted' is highly flawed.

Here is a site with many definitions of bigoted or bigot....none of them mention anything about discriminating by age.

I read the thread. Peadar said nothing bigoted and nothing to warrant a ban.

Your personal insults were childish however and you deserved yours.

It was a week's ban, or something thereabout.

Leeza, Dahamsta himself looked at that and made his decision. If you **** him off further... well, he's IP banned people for less. Take it on the chin and either get back to posting about football, or take your ball and go home.

I think the points everyone is trying to drill home to you is
a)that its not bigotry to slag someone off cause of their age. b) even if it was then Peader wasnt guilty of it and c) given the fact you blatantly just outright abused someone you were lucky you only got a weeks ban.

I don't know what was said in the offending thread and I'll take the general view that Peadar didn't say anything bigoted. My point relates to the above definition - which I think does include bigotry basd on age. It refers to "group", which could refer to age groups. For example someone could be prejudiced against old people or young people. The definition above does not refer to sexual orientation and I think all would agree that intolerance of different sexual orientations is bigotry.
