Seriously though, it's got to be the National League, hasn't it ? Anything else just sounds plain silly and is in danger of harking back to the "Kentucky Fried Chicken League days".

I think the 'PremEireShip' would be a nice hybrid name

I-League; as soon as I saw it looked fetching and did like the sound of it, but agree with the Oz and Japan comparisons..sort of looks a bit cheap copying the theme- However- there are only 'X' amount of permutations you can have for the top league- 'super league', 'premier', 'division 1', etc, so I suppose whatever is chosen is likely to be in similar vain to an existing theme..

I like the sound of that but it sounds better with just Eircom I think and with Premier Division at the end.

To be fair, it's actually the other way around.

Most foreign press seem to call us 'the Irish league' - probably due to lazy or presumptious journalism.

we are the league of ireland, therefore the Irish league.

same way as we would call the league in Sweden the swedish league rather than wat its called
