Have to say I didn't have high expectations of this match, and they're not being met

    Oh well

Doubt anyone expected much, looks like many ticket holders didnt bother. The talk of the team being over the disappointment and moving on isnt convincing. 2nd half though, I still would like to see a change up of things. New faces, we obviously want players able to slot in to a system so its no longer figuring out formations that suit so subs will do. Win just for the W3 D1, climb rankings.

1st half highlights of Denmark v Czechia are a bit mad. Apart from the Czechs being 1 up, the could and should have scored 3. Im not sure how to process that, if the Czechs win, in the context of how the ability of sides are assessed but us mortals. Never for a moment watching the game last week that I thought that the Danes were not the significant favourites even if playing away. It maybe makes it worse as it could mean that we would have been the strongest or in form team.

I've held my tongue after Thursday but Brown isn't good enough. HH saw it before, he just doesn't play well for Ireland

I suppose in fairness only Parrott had a decent game. Lawal did ok when on too. The rest was pedestrian stuff by and large. Browne maybe actively wasn't great though I guess

I came here to say this. I'm sure he's a lovely lad and all but the reality is he's just not good enough and after 30 odd caps there's no reason to believe he ever will be.

Johnny Kenny is younger but he's another one who shouldn't get another call up until he does something at club level to justify it.

I though O'Shea had another excellent game.

Parrott, O'Shea and Molumby all excellent - as was Coleman. Lawal and Vale did well enough out of the subs - and Abankwah has promise, i think. The game shifted so much when we made the quadruple change. I think how we slowed down afterwards was somewhat to do with Travers for Kelleher. Incredible the difference it made actually in terms of our distribution/fluidity from the back.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Well Czechs through. and B+H ahead against Italy, both on penalties. None worse than the Danes, even than the Irish efforts. Bosnians show how penalties should be taken so far. Actually Italys penalties could be the worse of the 3 shootouts!! Ok so Italy will now miss a 3rd WC in a row. Thats really got to hurt...

In honesty.. we were never good enough to make a WC.. but what a missed opportunity

One stupid shirt tug, and a ridiculous "free"..

And an even more ridiculous decision to let Browne take a penalty.. might as well have been Christy Brown

On tonights game.. Lawal certainly has the kind of physical presence we so badly need in the middle.. but does he have the ball skills

We're ok at the back.. Parrot has grown up at the front..

If Fergusons ankles hold out, we'll have a really decent strike force

Ogbene is a limited baller, but his pace will always cause problems..

    A decent 6 and 8.. we'll be grand

We're certainly as good as Czechia, BIH, Kosovo, and a whole host of team 2&3 in the NL

A decent NL campaign, and a good draw and we'll be close to qualifying for Euros..

And we can always cheer on the Scots and Welsh

What are we looking at for Euro qualifiers.. 11 groups with 1st and 2nd, and 2 home nations?

Ten groups. Top 2 in each qualify automatically. Two places held back for host teams and two playoff places. Additional playoffs if the two host places aren't needed.

Some 3rd level institute needs to offer a PhD on qualification tournaments.

I think a large percentage of the 39.5K who showed up did it as support for the team rather than expecting a classic, thought Vale looked lively.

I know it's a new cycle of season tickets but I got the feeling a large percentage were kids on their midterm break being brought by parents. I'd say I only recognised 2 faces in a 10 seat radius of my seat.

Yes, there were plenty of empty seats at the Aviva Stadium, but the official attendance of 39,560 well exceeded many predictions.

As a season ticket holder I suspect I was one of those 39560 despite being over 100 miles away at the time.

Before the attendance was announced, I guessed it as 42k. 39k didn't seem unreasonable

Yeah, was thinking about 40k myself alright. Quite surprised at the crowd.

i was there and it looked and felt like 40,000.
am delighted the fans have stuck by the team after last Thursdays disappointment.
I am sure many were there purely out of loyalty to the team and I doubt they expected anything more than what the teams served up.
One big plus for me was that parrots movement was excellent and we seem to have a proper striker on our hands
