I wonder if either party but a release clause in - would make more sense for AZ to have done so with the 20% due to Spurs.
Ajax might not be in a position financially, at least should there be a bidding war.

For Season 2024/25, they reported a pre-tax loss of -€51.3m. By contrast, these others all posted pre-tax profits: AZ +€14.3m, PSV +€10.1m, Feyenoord +€31.1m, Twente +€19.9m.

And with Ajax finishing in 32nd in the Champions League Group table this season (2 wins, 6 defeats), they won't have made too much money from that, either.

That is a fair point EG, a very fair point. A bidding war only works if it involves teams on the Parrott trajectory radar (as has been alluded to previously in terms of his career roadmap). your point still stands though.
If I question Liam Scales ability to play intl football, refer me to this signature & his peformance at home at lb vs Port on Nov 13 2025.

Well, apart from the 18m euros they get just for being there

Actually it was a lot more than that:

But even with €43m, it doesn't wipe out the previous season's €51m loss. While PSV made €45m from Europe, to add to the previous season's €10m profit.

While they've still got a bit to do to qualify for next season's CL (PSV pretty much guaranteed):

Another day another goal. The last time a player felt this important was...Robbie? Roy?

Maybe Kelleher? Honestly not sure which of Kelleher or Parrott would be worse to lose for March. I'd say the drop off from Kelleher to the next pick in goal is bigger than the drop off from Parrott to Ferguson. But then Ferguson probably won't be available either, so you could be on to Idah at that point (if he's fit). Idah up front or someone other than Kelleher in goal - choose your poison!

Haha fair point. I think we're looking at Cannon as the next option? I've already mentally decided that Ferguson will be injured , better to have low expectations there me thinks.

It's great to be able to say that we have two world class players though, it's been a while!

Cannon seems to have reverted to type lately - no goals since New Year's Day. Idah is injured and not certain to be fit for March (and is a poor player anyway). Sammie obviously has gone off the boil. Johnny Kenny has maybe found his level in the third tier. Even Obafemi went off injured again, and Blackpool fans are increasingly of the view he's useless anyway.

It's terrifying how quickly we drop off after Parrott - and you could put a similar argument for Kelleher (though Travers is probably a reasonable option).

Let's not think about what might happen and just focus on how good they are!

Another 90 minute goal. His capacity to score late goals is a huge asset on top of all the other benefits that come from having him

It seems to have got unmentioned that Alkmaar have made the KNVB final on April 19th, with Nijmigen their opponents (having knocked out PSV in the other semi-final). AZ beat Telstar as expected, Parrott central to both goals (two og's by the looks of it).

I'm looking to see if it is possible to attend this as it's going to be hosted in de Kuip, a ground I've always wanted to visit and Rotterdam is a cracking town

    Twice.

26(?) for the season now. How much would Premier League clubs be willing to pay for him this summer if he was Dutch or Spanish or Portuguese and he was doing that in the Eredivisie? £50m plus add-ons maybe? Will be interesting to see what he goes for in reality.

If he doesn't move to the prem next we might have a superstar on our hands. I think the lesson he learned from his early loans in the lower english leagues will hopefully be that the Premier league is probably the end goal but while he is still developing a slightly less physical league and he flourishes. He'd easily do it in Portugal or France at this stage, but i'd love to see him at a big German club if the interest is there. Its exciting having someone with these types of options in our squad!

Without wanting to be too much of a downer, or diminish Parrott's achievements so far, I thought I should point out that Jozy Altidore scored 20 and 31 goals in his two years at AZ, earning a big money move to the EPL, where he gained the nickname Jozy Antiscore.
Fortunately, he went on to become a Toronto FC legend and ended up with 42 international goals, which I am sure we'd be happy with, if Parrott ended up on that mark.

You could make the same argument about Szmodics to a certain extent but I think we can all see that Parrot is something special. It's always been there, he's just really discovering himself this season and last. I genuinely think we'll be taking about Robbie and Troy in a different bracket then any of our other strikers for a long time
