Jacob Devaney M St Mirren (on loan from Manchester United) b.2007

His debut was discussed in the Under 23 thread but he can expect to play plenty of first team football at St. Mirren between now and May if he stays fit so it makes sense for him to have his own thread.

He looked very composed for an 18 year old playing against a typically physical Hearts team. A good late run into the box drew the foul for the Hearts red card, which was the turning point in the game. Didn't look out of place in terms of size either. Encouraging stuff.

My fear is that he comes back to the Premier League and shows his class and then declares for England.

His size might go in our favour.
    PL favours beasts, not ballers.

He can't play for their Under 21s in this campaign anyway, which is helpful. If he shows himself to be on a similar level to Killian Phillips at St Mirren (or better) I think Heimir would probably call him up for the Nations League in the autumn. There's a four game window this time I think that will require a bigger squad to be chosen. Heimir has been smart enough so far in terms of capping dual eligible players - McGuinness and McAteer who were eligible for the north, Szmodics who was eligible for Hungary, Cannon who was eligible for England Under 21s at the time and Azaz who was eligible for Israel. Vata was eligible for a few countries too.

We cant always worry about that. He seems committed

I agree that if he shows that if he shows favorably along side Philips that he might be one to be fast tracked
    Its really not that complicated!!!

    I was at this.

He was very tidy and composed in the first half, alwayw showing to receive and try and get things moving. Second half he faded a bit, unsurprisingly, given it's his first game.

St Mirren fans very keen on him at this early stage, and he'll have easier opponents than last night.

I contest the comment that the penalty was the turning point - Hearts were brutal from start to finish.

Scores on his second appearance for St Mirren, a really decent finish too. It sounds like commentators and pundits with no particular skin in the game with regard to him are hearing that he's a special talent relative to his age, based on their comments about him.

(tweet) and (/tweet), but with square brackets. And the tweet number (not the whole URL) in between

Man United could be providing our entire midfield in a few years: Jacob Devaney, Jack Moorhouse, Rafe McCormack and Jay McEvoy.

I’d be getting him in and around the squad asap.

Could be a bolter if we make the WC, especially with Cullen injured
