Norwich City owner Mark Attanasio was on BBC Radio Norfolk's Norwich phone-in show during the week and he brought Duffy up unprompted a couple of times during the discussion, hinting that they would see a more experienced player in the lineup on Saturday.

"I might have asked about a certain Irish defender and why, if we need toughness, he's not in the lineup, but [Liam Manning] is making the decision, not me."

Lo and behold, having been excluded from nearly all matchday squads up to this point in Norwich's abysmal season, Duffy was suddenly starting vs Hull. Unfortunately for Norwich, Duffy and Manning, they still lost 2-0.

The highlights show Duffy had a decent headed chance early in the game, but also a dodgy moment in the second half where he slipped attempting to snuff out danger (no goal came from it though, so he got away with that one. First full game in months, mind you so a case of ring-rust perhaps). Despite the defeat, Duffy was the best-rated Norwich defender on Whoscored (they rated him 6.9, while Harry Darling was 6.5 and Ruairi McConville was 5.6. John Egan was rated 7.1 for Hull).

Subbed off at half-time - don't think he's injured; seems it was just a poor performance, a yellow, and them being 1-0 down to the side on minus points.

Wednesday's goal was a screamer from Barry Bannan after a loose pass from Kenny McLean and slack closing down from the other midfielder. Seems there was a heated exchange between Duffy and McLean during the HT break, which looked bad. Manning said they wanted to change from 5 to 4 at the back, but the bust-up doesn't bode well.

From the highlights you can see that Norwich are just wasting loads of chances. They've only managed to score 13 goals in 14 games.
