He gets a lot of stick when the footballing side of things isn't working but I don't think you could ask any employee to do more to bring in revenue and promote a club. It's a shame the footballing side has been a mess. Fingers crossed this current bit of form and reasonable recruitment isn't a false dawn

Each to their own and I'm sure it'll sell well, but I wouldn't be a fan of my club essentially releasing a Man City jersey

Made a balls of the last post.

This will mo doubt be met with derision from many angles bit itbis without doubt a successful strategy this far and kudos to Bohs.

They are the only LOI club who regularly get exposure nationally amd internationally when releasing a new shirt.

The amount of money Lambert has brought to the club must be astonishing at this stage. Right back to the fundraising gigs to keep the club alive 13/14 years ago. It's like he has the same ideas as a lunatic on a barstool but somehow the capacity to make them happen.

Whats the story with Bohs using these bands logos? Presumably they are getting permission but does that mean they have to handover a percentage of sales?

Good on Cliftonville. Not to mention Athlone Town are also older as well as ametuer sides, some of which are mentioned in the replies

It says it clearly that nothing is going to Oasis. So why would they allow it? I think it gets the band huge kudos and a certain whiff of hipness that they may no longer have.
Having said that I struggle to think of another irish club that could pull that off.
The choice of Irish in Manchester charity is apt and very deserving and clever as well

Typically a % of the sales goes to a charity that the band and club agree on. For the Oasis jersey 50% of the profits go to Bohs, 25% goes to music generation Ireland to help give access to music and music equipment to disadvantaged children across Ireland and 25% goes to an Irish care charity in Manchester that helps the Irish diaspora over there. For the Fontains one money is being raised for Palestine and for the Guinness jerseys it's split going to Bohs community initiatives and the Bohs pride committee. Whatever the cause is it's usually mentioned in the clubs press release and there's usually a few words from one of the charities representatives. Last I saw around 140k was raised by the Fontains jersey for medical aid in Palestine so it certainly has the potential to be helpful. Granted the blockades may have hindered the actual help.

EDIT: Re-reading the press release for the Oasis jersey it explicitly states that Oasis have not been paid for participating in the partnership. First time I recall seeing this but to the best of my knowledge this is standard fare with these partnerships. Maybe they want to get some good will going after the dynamic pricing fiasco?

Considering Oasis has supposedly signed a contract for their divorce-settlement-equalizing cashcow tour that the group get 30% share of absolutely everything with their name on it( t shirts, beer, posters) I can't imagine they'll let shirt sales with their name on it go amiss - they're not exactly known for their altruism.

I said it in the post above but it very explicitly states Oasis won't get any proceeds from the jersey.

My assumption is the same and potentially how it was sold to the brand as a PR move. The brand is getting a bit of heat for ripping off the working class - with this you're publicly donating money to working class musicians in Ireland, the Manchester Irish thing and we'll publicise your philanthropy. Might have been discussion about which particular charities would benefit but you get the general idea... I doubt Oasis made first contact.

Any Bohs fan who's also an Oasis fan (or Bob Marley or whoever) is not going to throw out the jersey when it's no longer our current jersey. Music fans generally don't throw out their band gear flippantly. A lot of football fans would be the same with jerseys to be fair. The Oasis jersey and the Aslan jersey are the kind of thing that fans of both will wear for as long as it's wearable... and beyond if you're not particularly into how you look. Aslan Bohs jersey is Bohs jersey perfection. Honestly if Shels, Pat's, Bohs, Rovers and Dublin GAA or anybody else all brought out the Aslan jersey as part of the same campaign it wouldn't have diluted it for me.

I beat if you wore the Aslan jersey in places like England, people would glance at it quickly and think it said 'Asian'

Or they'd wonder how the lion from Narnia has sponsored a football team
