Feared the worst when rovers scored that early goal and if Watts didn't miss that sitter it would have been a rough night. Thought Pats were excellent 2nd half, Bolger and Lennon did really well in the middle
Rovers were missing a heap of players but that 11 last night is still probably better than the rest of the league. They'll still walk the league imo

A ref calls a game off not a club so dunno how Sligo injuries have anything to do with tonights game being called off? Always going to annoy someone - game off too early, called too late. Imo every opportunity to play the game should be given though it can mean teams and fans already enroute, maybe others differ and it should be just called in the afternoon if there is any doubt at all.
Met Eireann have winds dropping as the day progresses, while conditions are not ideal, the wind ATM is no more than good drying, game could have defo have gone ahead in present weather.
TBH I stayed overnight in Tralee and travelled back by train via Dublin Connolly to Longford. It was only in Dublin Connolly at midday when I arrived there and heard that the 11am train to Sligo was delayed cos of a fallen tree on the line! I got on that train and 3 mins later it departed. This is freakish weather and in Tralee this morning at 7am it was fierce gusty when I got the 0705 train back to Dublin!

You think? We are the worst in the PD (at the min) and by a large stretch and not sure I can see things changing in the short term, no wins and only 3 goals, deserve to be bottom. Really not sure how we can turn it around, but not giving up, yet !
Ps re your signature, is that just a bit of craic, you do realise the treble was won 4 other times in the history of the LOI (apart from 1989) and by 2 other clubs, Rovers 3 times, Bohs once when Shield was a bigger trophy than LC, so there you go, said my piece, but not exactly the height of my worries / priorities at the minute.

I definitely think you’ll improve given time and it will be more than enough to win the 1st Division.
No issue with the game being called off tonight for safety concerns but there was an orange warning for 3 or 4 days (and not for Sligo).
Surely it could have been called yesterday or this morning.
SOD sounded like a broken man on local radio last night. He's more proven as a coach than a lot of the squad are as players so I don't think this season is much of a stain on his reputation overall, but it feels like something has to change there sooner or later just through sheer (possibly blind) hope it'll spark some life into the club.
Watch them beat us next week mind.
It will take a completely freakish win totally against the run of play and the odds, build a little bit of confidence and there is a tiny possibility of fighting out of this rut. There is a reasonable spine to the side, useful wide players, no Abibi in nets - people point to a lack of goals and Hoban leaving but I dont think we are creating for even a Hoban (Or Ive seriously underestiated how many goals he made himself previously). We are goosed beyond a 1st 11 for sure but an available 1st 11 should be able to eek out some results. We are now in the position of having to targeting points in key games, eg Drogheda next bank holiday, Bohs, Waterford, try and show that we can get in the arm wrestle with Galway - we need league challegers ruthlessly beating the teams above us like Derry not going and losing to Drogheda after whipping us.
Im not sure that a change of manager would benefit us bar the auld new manager bounce, If I were making the decision i think Id opt to stick with the manager and not have the squad play under the pressure of the managers job. Maybe thats foolish but what are the feasable alternatives and sometimes backing the manager is more progressive than sacking them. I'll be hoping for that moment where a side clicks until we are mathematically relegated,its the hope that kills you but abandoning a club in its difficult times is unforgivable, supporting a club thats going through a successful era is easy and there are plenty of Dundalk fans about that dont recall being stuck in the 1st division so we will see what they are made of as well as the team as the season progresses.
The call on the Sligo game was ridiculous. We left Galway at 2pm 52 seater full . We got as far as past claremorris when we got word at 3pm that the game was off. There was a light breeze and the sun was shining. The weather warning for Sligo was yellow as opposed to orange in Galway and Mayo and the weather was to improve from 5pm.
Who checked out the conditions for the loi in Sligo???
Whoever made that call never left his bed in Dublin yesterday morning, heavy rain in the AM and no more than a stiff breeze after that, shops, pubs, restaurants, public transport, etc, etc all ran as normal yesterday the only thing didn't happen was an LOI game.
Well if this is the case then talk of Sligo helping the decision due to injuries is plausible!
It would have been a miserable night for a football with the wind howling all over the place and a lot of showers. I have however seen football played in similar conditions previously.
Bit of a lose - lose situation for whoever makes the decision to call that game off. Met Eireann had gusts of 90 to 100 km an hour between 7 and 8 oclock. If the forecast is right and someone is hurt they are in trouble and if it turns out not as forecast the clubs/ fans are not happy. They will always go on the H&S grounds I guess.
I heard the referee inspects the pitch and only LOI can call off for other reasons. We were doing a Rovers fundraiser in Sligo town and seen a slate come off a roof and just miss a woman, that was at 12 o clock and long before gusts picked up.

Its not puishing Galway if additional home fans can be allowed in, reduced security costs etc. But yeah it never made sense to me why a club who is being sanctioned for fan behaviour does not do so at home - it needs to hurt fans to get the message accross, even to the brain dead types where peer pressure might make a difference.
It is punishing Galway if they don’t sell those extra 450 tickets. Someone on here can correct me if I’m wrong but I think the only games that the home end in Galway has sold out this season was against Pats on the opening night and against Rovers a few weeks back. Hopefully they can sell out the ground for that shels game
