5-4 to us against Derry today. Derry had a penalty saved as well. Ellis Chapman with a hat trick in his first appearance which he’ll never be able to live up to.

Finished 4-1 in the end. Keating, Lennon, Forrester and an OG for Pats, not sure who got the Cork goal.

That's a cracking friendly scoreline in that Sligo-Derry game.

UCD v St Mochta's kicked off at 5pm - despite being advertised for Monday on the original fixtures list. The joy of the LSC...

St Mochta's just took the lead coming up to half-time.

Finner must be wondering what he's let himself in for

Finner was very clear in his post signing interview. He's not coaching and has no aspirations to that career direction. He's in UCD as a mature student to do a masters. This is an interesting result. When the LOI teams play LSL teams in July August in FAI Cup, the LSL lads are always in the middle of two mths holidays, and the LSL teams are on the beer. But play them in January the other way round, different story. Didn't Rovers only beat Lucan 2-0 last week ? The first division is not much better if better at all than the LSL, maybe the likes of Cork are potentially better, but the rest are dross.

Yeah Finner will go into the business side of football, not coaching. He's talked about it a bit.

Wouldn't read too much into our friendly v Lucan. Sure we lost to Cobh today.

Don’t put much stock in pre season tbh. It’s nice to win of course but it’s more important to get new signings to gel and get the fitness back up to match level.

Handy 3-1 for us over Malahide, would been more only for their keeper pulling off some great saves

Coldest I've been at a game in a long time and that includes a freezing Oriel on Thursday just gone where the club hadn't even the facilities to offer a cup of tea to anyone

Agreed, results mean very little. You do always hope to see some improvements in weak areas from last year but it's so hard to tell if there is any improvement because it may not be your starting 11 come day 1 of the season, the team your playing could be considerably worse than you and a multitude of other things.

In addition, the head coach may have his own perspective on weaknesses and strengths. Sometimes I think it is easier to change the head coach to fix the weaknesses in a team.
