Mad to think that when these two next meet there'll be close to 10 times as many people at it.

Decent crowd considering the night that was in it.

There were 4700 at Rovers Drogs last night which based on previous Sunday crowds was decent.
With the Drogs fans banned that stopped it tipping over 5k. i thought given Rovers were saying tickets were available on the door that some Drogs fans would show up but i didnt see any

Not bad for a Monday night considering the weather that was forecasted and transpired. Stood on the camac tonight and I don’t think I’ve got a 2 hour soaking like that at a match in years. Nights like tonight really highlight the need for the stadium improvements across the country

Same! Was a rough one, the stand looked packed outside of the away end* though, suppose there's cover there at least but goes to show again how much things have kicked on. A game like that in years gone by would have done well to break 1000.

    * Given the circumstances of it being a Monday, the weather and how their season is going, there was a surprising number of Sligo fans I thought. Fair play to them.

No more than Wexford could have expected, considering they have averaged around 5/600 per home game.

Expanded First Division playoffs have been a great success for crowds

Great attendances again indeed! Any idea of the record attendance at Lissywollen, Athlone have been in the doldrums so long its hard to remember though Lissywollen is the only ground of the longer established clubs ive not been to. St Mels had its charm and doesnt feel like 17 years since it was retired - just like I remember it and probably how AC Milan describe it, that photo of their bus in the mud is by far the best LoI photo ever!

Yep - Wexford (or whoever's in fifth) aren't going to get promoted anyway, so I guess why not give them the chance of a big crowd.

Thanks for that - just googled it and it is indeed a classic for the ages:

It's not just the style of the two Italians manoeuvering through the mud etc, but it's the fella in the anorak, woolly hat and wellies which sets it off beautifully - almost like he's watching aliens landing from another planet!

Looks like the overall combined attendance is going to pass 800k on cup final day. That's a very decent benchmark to set. Hopefully that's the minimum for a long time to come.

For the start of next season both Rovers and Derry should have an increased capacity and with Galway replacing UCD it should give a fairly decent base to hit 900k next year.

The first division finishing with 1k+ average again without Cork is a huge achievement. Hopefully that can be repeated for a third season in a row next year.

UCD replacing Galway makes it extremely unlikely that the FD will have an average over 1,000 again next year. It barely scraped it this year sure. Plu Kerry are also likely to have a lower average too, after the novelty effect of their first year.

I think you're looking at it a bit arse-about-faceways. We're probably near enough if not over 800k already if we're including cup attendances and playoffs. Total league figure will probably get close to 775k this season, and Galway replacing UCD will hurt the First Division average and probably marginally increase the Premier average, but won't have any massive difference towards overall figures.

I'll see if I can find official figures for all FAI cup games and see where the total figure sits of all games at senior level this season.

Nesta that picture that you had in your last post is that the spot of the old St Mels Park? Have being in both grounds. Was in St Mels Park for FAI Cup Q-final replay against athlone and that was the only time I made it down there! Was in the other ground where Bucaneers play also.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
