Two goals for promotion-chasing Sheffield United, making him Ireland's top scorer in the Championship: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45609722. And yet there's no clamour for a call-up and one mention of him since the start of the season on this site. Come on, it's time to give him another shot - he has a few caps under his belt (albeit in somewhat underwhelming appearances) so doesn't need to be blooded in - put him in the squad for the Denmark and Wales games MON

I only really remember him from the USA friendly and thought he was excellent that night. Give him another shot for sure

He hasn't played for us since the defeat to Mexico in New York.

Not sure when he was last named in a squad.

Maybe he is not interested in playing for us and not bothering to make a song and dance about it .

Or maybe MON is overlooking him just like he overlooks Doherty for Christie

Another goal for McGoldrick, albeit from the penalty spot, the only goal against Hull: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45688432

    Erm...thanks for that Paul

The article mentions there's some beef between Mcgoldrick and MON, so I posted to help answer the above queries
I could of course have mentioned this in that post...

Put in a good shift - very decent goal, chasing a header into space off the shoulder of his marker before stretching for a bouncing ball to lift it over the onrushing Scott Carson. Looked lively throughout and had a great chance earlier when he chased down a poor defensive header and also tried to lob Carson, who did well on that occasion to make himself tall and get a touch on it - the Derby defender then gave McGoldrick a sly nudge before the ball fell and got away with it. Also involved in the build-up to the first goal, as well as making a number of incisive passes throughout (like the ones in the game against the USA). I really think he should be our fourth option for the qualifiers behind Long, Obafemi and Robinson, with Maguire as the final forward if there's five in the squad.

I think McCarthy will play him as a 10, behind one of those guys

That'd work, particularly with his ability to pick out a pass inside and around the box

Fixer, would you ever change your Avatar ? I keep thinking you're me

Yes, McGoldrick is having a very good season and the Blunts' style of attacking play seems to suit him. He's 31 now though and he's not that prolific in front of goal but it's not as if we're blessed with talent up front so definitely a squad member I'd say.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Hits double figures for the first time since 2013-14 with his fifth goal in six games - he's got to be in the squad for March - forget Bamford, Mick, give your former player a call: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46766460

There's room for both I think.
