New Manager for Pats

Can see why Long would be mentioned but can�t see why he would be interested. Crolly was linked with Pats last year (with Buckley moving to a general manager role �upstairs�) so possibly something there but Crolly was burned in Mordor so might not be up for a Manager�s job

Now his �issue� with previous player is resolved Nutsey (former Pats player) is presumably available. His Waterford gig is only part time scouting I believe ?

Wouldn't like Croly. Don't like the way he left Pats last time. Keith Long would be good, but as the Bohs fans here have said, I can't see much incentive for him to leave Bohs for us, unless we are throwing serious money a him, both wage wise and in terms of playing budget. No to Nutsy, especially without a big budget. Collie O'Neill could be a good option. Wouldn't mind giving Ger O'Brien a shot, he might be caretaker until the end of the season. Not much point in rushing an appointment at this stage I don't think.

Sad to see Bucko go,his teams played the best football I've seen in my 24 years as a regular at Richmond. The teams of 2013 and 14 were terrific. If not for injuries I think we could have pushed Dundalk closer for the league in 2014. And then of course there was the Cup win. If he'd done nothing else but that it would be enough to make him a legend. To be honest I think the players have let him down this year. Saturday was obviously the last straw.

Think Croly is a shoe in for the pats job myself.
Buckley will get the Sligo job when they sack their manager at seasons end.

It will be a cold day in hell before he is Pats manager , no time for the man after he back stabbed us in the lead up to the 2012 cup final.

Harry Kenny would be the safe choice imo. Rovers will have to hurry up or they might miss out on their supporters choice. Collie O'Neill would be the 'gamble' though not much of one. What did Croly do in 2012? Great coach but almost too nice in a meek and mild mannered way for manager previously unless that was just the Rovers job knocking the confidence out of him.

Was Bucko full time? Kenny works with the FAI, who usually don't like their employees double-jobbing.

Martin Russell would be a logical candidate; relatively decent manager and a former Pats player.

I don't think his time at Limerick enhanced his reputation to be honest. There were definitely mitigating factors, but he also definitely messed up a lot.

Fully agree RE Buckley, real gent and a manager that always played the game the right way. Think Pats have been fair to him, expected him to go last year. Pats have stagnated last couple of seasons and Saturdays surrender was obviously the last straw. Overall his time there was a success just need a change to shake things up a bit. Martin Russell could be a good fit (given Crollys previous departure clearly still rankles), depends on what the clubs aims are.

Don't think Martin Russell is the answer. Yes he believes in the same style as Buckley, but he's no real record of success as a manager, and his teams look soft as Buckos teams at their worst. Would be tempted to take a punt on Ger O' Brien, as I think he's a real Pats man, and I think that's important, the only worry is it could be too early for him. Ŵont be an easy job for whoever takes it. Rebuilding is needed and who knows what the budget will be next year. We need someone to do what Keith Long is doing for yourselves.

We could hedge our bets and say a former Bray manager the front runners so far mentioned. Ger O'Brien is an interesting one, young, knows the club and players, respected by fans.
