If he starts the season playing regularly I wonder does that merit inclusion in the senior squad? Fair enough it was tough to include him previously given his age and lack of senior experience.

Cambuur finished 12th in the Dutch top flight in the season just passed. Vytautas Andriuškevičius plays for the Lithuanian senior side. Other than that, most of their players are Dutch, aside from Bartholomew Ogbeche (who remembers him?), a Polish and an Austrian under 21 (Man City loanee). 13th placed Go Ahead Eagles provide little in the line of foreigners but their only one is a Togolese international.

More interesting are Zwolle, who came 11th and their foreigners are:
Australian with 2 caps but not in squad at present
Current Congo international
Former Greek under 21 (overage now and no senior cap)
Current Czech forward
Keeper from Belgium with no international experience
Young Serbian defender with apparently no international experience.
Current Finnish international
Current New Zealand international.
Greek-German with no international experience

I reckon the squad for the final qualifiers would be pretty much be set, chosen from those who have been called up over the last twelve months, with really only one possible floppy-haired addition, whose name we are not allowed to mention until he makes that big decision. It's probably too late for Byrne to break in for those games, even if he does start playing for Cambuur (although I'm sure Dunphy will be screaming for his inclusion, should he complete a couple of passes against "THE GREAT AJAX AMSTERDAM"). However, should we turn things around and actually make it to Euro 2016 and if Byrne really emerges as a serious player in the Eredivisie, then certainly there is the potential opportunity for him to be blooded into the team during pre-tournament friendlies and then included in the finals squad. However, those are two big "ifs" at this point.

You may be right but there is reason to believe this will be different than the Barry Maguire situation - mid-level Eredivisie teams was the pinnacle (so far anyway) of Maguire's career before dropping to the Eerste Divisie and that's not quite high enough a level to be an Irish International. Byrne's stint in the Eredivisie next season is clearly being planned as a stepping stone to the Man City first team, particularly when viewed in combination with the three-year contract he just signed. And certainly, he would have to really tear things up over there to merit a place in our Euro 2016 finals squad, should we make it, however even a good season there would still indicate that his career path is well on track and that he could well figure in the next qualifying campaign.

Really good attitude by this young lad and he seems genuinely excited about the move to Cambuur. At the age of 19 it would be easy for him to turn his nose up at a move which will bring cultural and logistical barriers e.g. the language, age profile of the players compared to himself, further distance from home etc. But Byrne seems intent on embracing it.
There was a link posted here of a video done by Man City in which they interview Byrne but also the man that owns the digs in which Byrne originally stayed in. It seemed that Byrne and this chap enjoyed a solid relationship and he was quick to compliment Byrne's character.

Very excited about this lad. He's making all the right noises both on (physically) and off (verbally) the field.

Sure, I understand, we shouldn't get overexcited, but even with the loanees you mention, their career paths are still going fairly well, even if they didn't quite make it at Man City: Guidetti, admittedly has been a bit of a loan ranger, with some mixed results (albeit affected by injury and illness) - however his season at Celtic was quite productive (more appearances and goals than Anthony Stokes) and he should be picked up by someone, now that he has been released (he also picked up a couple of caps for Sweden); Denayer was PFA Scotland young Player of The Year, broke into the Belgian team during his loan spell and has been quoted as saying that he wants to remain at Celtic; Rusnak, who also went to Cambuur, spent half a season there before, arguably, moving up a grade on a permanent basis to Groningen and scoring the goals that won them their first Dutch Cup. So even if Byrne emulates these players, he could still be considered for the World Cup 2018 squad. Plus, having signed a three-year contract, he won't be released into the wilderness by City at the end of the loan spell (although there is always the possibility that he may spend the following season in the reserves or back with the U-21s). So, definitely one for MON to keep an eye on.
