Dundalk benefitted from Ross Gaynor's lack of a brain and Baraclough made the most pointless substitution taking Maguire off for Ledwith which killed off any hope of us having any chances. Deserved a point though. Dundalk were very quick on the counter attack but their defence is cat, how is Gartland starting for them? Gannon looked wrecked very early in second half, a better attacking team will easily score goals against them. Won't be winning anything this year.
Our squad is too light (one of those on bench last night was a player who had already played 90mins for U19's a few hours before hand) and we're struggling because of that now with a few injuries, qualifying for Europe will be an achievement.

Gartland's pre-season's was interrupted with two injuries and then his fathers illness and death. He is not yet fit, but will be a good defender when he is.
If you think we are bad with him, you should have seen us in Drogheda when we were without him.

I think that you referred to Gannon in error. It was Brian Gartland who had the family bereavement.
You are right, a mistype, I'll correct.
I have to say, I didn't notice Gannon suffering due to lack of fitness. He had little to do in the game as Sligo sat back.

Serious question -
accepting Bohs now how hold the title to the whole property, am I correct in assuming that there are substantial charges against the club - thus you may have full title but don't actually have any control over it i.e. similar to a domestic mortgage where ones name is on the title deeds but your lender holds them until you have paid off your mortgage in full.
And if the above is correct , is it also correct to say that Bohs aren't in a position to pay off their loans and thus have in effect defaulted and are only allowed to use Dalymount by agreement with who ever holds the charge over the deeds ?

Yes there is a substantial charge on the property .Just like any one holding a mortgage we have to either meet ongoing interest and capital payments or come to some other agreed arrangement.Whether we play football in Dalymount to help discharge those debts or say Archery competitions, is a matter of complete indifference to anyone holding the charge. We have use our property in the same way as any property owner has use of theirs
However, for example ,if property owners fail to pay and fail to reach agreement with the lender and default they can face action for repossession. Bohs would also be in that position if that hypothetical situation arose .To suggest that any mortgagee who cannot immediately pay off the full amount as having "defaulted" as you suggest, is wide of the mark.
Thankfully all still hypothetical. It would be great if we could hang on to the ground indefinitely and improve the facilities but with in two/three years of an upturn in the property market in D7 or when the DIT campus is developed in Grangegorman, the sad reality is that Dalymount Park will be sold.
What was he supposed to do? If he left it as it was, assuming he pulled Greene back to left full, he would be effectively be playing 4 3 2 against 4 5 1. How could that make sense?

In the first half, until we decided to just let the Dundalk centre backs just have the ball whenever they had it, we were getting caught with too many forward at times and Dundalk were breaking whenever we lost the ball. That was really when they looked most dangerous. Would think that is what he means.
We counteracted that by putting everyone behind the ball!

I understand why he took Maguire off but I think it was a bit of a hasty decision meself. As soon as he took Maguire it almost killed any chances of us scoring. Maguire has played deep in games and could have played closer to the midfield and we still could have hoped for a goal on the counter. Putting Greene left back (where he ended up) and trying Maguire was worth a go. The thing about taking him off is that we had no attacking substitutes. If they got an early goal we had nobody to come on and try to get a goal. At least if Maguire had been left on you had more of a chance of scoring.
Id have taken North off meself. Maguire up on his own would have done far more work.
If there was a pointless decision made, it was putting Russell out on the left wing. He was our best player. A joy to watch, thank fuk he's back.

Here on a technicality.
Keep an eye out for our second goal against Athlone tonight, from Ayman Ben Mohammed. Picked the ball up from a goal kick, ran 35 yards past three or four defenders and slotted home nicely. Looks like a really good player; the goal aside, Athlone had real problems just getting the ball off him most of the time.
Hard to know what to make of the game though. We were much better for the first hour and should have been out of sight; Athlone came back really strongly (and we collapsed) as soon as they scored, and we were hanging on for the win in the end. Still, a first win of the season and two goals scored for the third game in a row is confidence-building. We're still looking stronger at the back than last season too (not that that would have been hard!)
yep i think so. we are struggling to get the tiki taka going, and it sounds like its a bog up there, so that certainly wont help.
We should have held on to Ian Gilzean and we could lump it up to him all night.
