That was my 1st thought.....Would you have him back? I'm not sure he's what we need as our lack of pace has destroyed us in defense ever since TC took charge, John Lester, Chris Deans, Brian McCarthy......Even Des Hope was lacking in pace at times we need a mobile centre-half this season and no offence to Garto I can't see him being that.

He was never quick but he's a good defender and has always given it his all. He seemed to play a fair bit for Shels last year but I didn't see much of him. Get in someone younger and quicker alongside him and he may be a good addition. I'm not sure if he'd be bothered with the First Division if he had a choice though, and you'd imagine Shels would be trying to hold on to him if he is.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
From what I gather the Shels fans wouldn't like to see him hang around but I could be wrong. Have heard a lot blamed him for very sloppy goals and lack of effort. His pace killed him and he would have been a high enough earner there too which going by performances didn't seem to sit well with a lot of fans.
I think Shels fans might be glad to see the back of him.
Fair enough if that's the case, as I said I didn't see much of him. Haven't seen much of him in the past few years actually so I'm probably just going on how I remember him at LTFC and Drogs, he was always committed. I've no info to suggest we are in for him just that TC is actively looking for some experienced players and we need defenders.

Johnny Dunleavy has re-signed and Danny Murphy has said on twitter that he's agreed a deal with the club.

i saw Gartland play for Shels a few times last season.. He was very poor imo and is not the player he used to be. As what was said earlier his lack of pace was to blame badly for Shels gettin relegated..
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Gartland was particularly awful in an awful Rovers team two seasons ago. In contrast to Shels fans, I think he did put the effort in, he just doesn't have it anymore. That major injury he got for St Johnstone really killed him.
Quigley heading back down the N4
Much as I'd love to see Russell with Rovers, that actually makes more sense. The FAI job looks like a pretty busy brief - I don't think he'd be able to combine it with full-time football in Sligo, but with Galway starting out part-time he might be able to squeeze it in.
@Sligo Hoops: I'd love if you're right about Quigs, but I'll believe it when I see an official announcement.
Sheppard returns, as expected:

Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
Always thought he was one of the most talented players in the League here but have often had doubts about his commitment. A player with that talent deserves a crack at a higher level but all the talent in the world still requires a shedload of commitment/effort when stepping up
At 25 its pretty much now or never for Ronan I would have thought
