Kilbarrack home to pike.. bad draw for the limerick teams.best of luck to all teams.
would expect pike to come through their tie, tough away draw for carew but all the pressure on sheriff, should be two great games.

As a Limerick man, the hope for me was an all Limerick final. That's still on, so I'm very happy with the draw. It'll be tough, but both teams are more than capable of winning in Dublin.

The best of luck to both Limerick teams. This town will clear out if it's an all Limerick final at the Aviva.

Hope the player that Bit the Carew Park keeper gets what's coming to him their discipline is atrocious and will cost them dearly.Carew played well and didn't deserve to lose.there was plenty of support up there well done to all Hopefully Pike do the business tomorrow and give Sherrif their just desserts. And before anyone starts ranting I'm not s Carew Park supporter.was just there as a limerick man and felt Carew were hard done by.felt sorry for Gordon Stewart who has given so much to the game.young Slattery deserved his red by the way.How many players has Sherrif had sent off in this competition? Quiet a few I believe.was talking to a few dubs and most of them were cheering for Carew Park.interesting.

    Sheriff YC 1-0 Carew Park

An unfortunate defeat for Carew today in a game of few chances, the majority of which fell to the away side. It was, in truth, a relatively poor quality game, with numerous misplaced passes, and a strong sense that nerves were (understandably) the overriding factor.

Sheriff took an early lead after a cross stemming from the second phase of a corner was turned in by a Carew player. After the goal, Carew seemed to take the initiative. A long range effort from Pa Boyle was well saved by the home keeper on the quarter hour mark. Sheriff were looking threatening on the break however, and really should have doubled their advantage after 20 minutes. A ball from the left fell to an unmarked Keith Dunne at the edge of the six yard box. He somehow shot wide.

Carew were playing in their traditional 4-4-1-1/4-4-2 shape, with number 10 Jonathan Grant and striker John Connery linking well together up top. Both men had a chance each in the first half. A Connery lay off from a long pass found Grant just outside the box after 25 minutes. His shot was again well saved by the Sheriff keeper. Grant was certainly the standout player in the first half - just before half time, he again received the ball in between the lines, before delivering an excellent through pass to Connery into the middle channel. The keeper did fantastically well to smother at the number 9's feet.

The second half was relatively uneventful for the most part. Carew shuffled the pack after an hour - Cyril Maher replaced Robert Brock who was operating on the left of midfield. Jamie O'Sullivan moved to that side, with centre mid John Boyle making room for Maher by moving out to the right. Minutes later, Sheriff were reduced to ten men - their number 7 dismissed for a second bookable offence. All the momentum at this point unsurprisingly was with Carew, but they were struggling to create. Jonathan Grant forced a save with a spectacular overhead kick with 20 minutes to go, but that was really more of a half chance. The breakthrough didn't look like materialising, and matters weren't helped when centre back Mark Slattery was dismissed for a late tackle after 80 minutes.

Carew were happy to leave three back at this stage, and brought on Kyle McCarthy up top for a bit of height late on as they looked to go direct. Grant was now operating in a left of centre role, and it was he who would initiate the chance that Carew were begging for. Getting in between the lines again, he fed the ball to Connery in the box. The striker was able to lay off to John Boyle who was running in unchecked from the right. He struck powerfully, but the Sheriff keeper produced another outstanding save. Carew's opportunity had come and gone.

A bit of a hard luck story for Carew. Some top class goalkeeping denied them on the day and they'll surely be dwelling on this as one that got away. All credit to them though. To go away to the holders and have the better of the game is quite impressive. Sheriff will know that they will need to improve if they are to retain their title at the Aviva. Congratulations to them.

Carew Park (4-4-1-1): Stewart; Griffin, Keane(c), Slattery, Kett (Somers 70'); O'Sullivan (McCarthy 85'), P. Boyle, J. Boyle, Brock (Maher 60'); J. Grant; Connery

Absolute sour grapes.. Nobody bit anyone that's a crazy allegation to make, sure there was camaras there they would pic it up no? Was a tough fought game an Carew did get on top when syc went down to 10 but that was expected but they only created 1 clear cut chance in the whole game in they dying seconds.. Overall very scrappy game but syc prove again they can win prity or scrappy.. Great win!

sounds like carew gave their all and maybe deserved more, tough luck on them, would be worried about this biting thing...could be the start of a load he did it ..he did not do it....happening regular in forthcoming games.that liverpool incident will start a wave of it now.

Sheriff hadnt played a game since Tuesday 16th April when they easily bt Sandyhill 4-0.They were away in Benidorm for Anto Murphy stag, thus they were out on their feet for the last 25 mins or so.Carew just lacked that bit of pace up front to trouble them,as even with all their possession they didnt get many clear cut chances. If ever there was a time to get Sheriff beat it was yesterday.John Lester was sent off so will miss the final.Lee Murphy was the goalkeeper and he was/is excellent yesterday and always.
Its blowing a gale up here so I expect it to be very windy up in the AUL later.
Hopefully we get a good game!!!!!!!!!!
