Guardain match report as it happened

Unbelievable! Incredible! Incomprehensible! Lewandowski crosses from the left – four Borussia players offside – and it ping-pongs around a bit before breaking to Santana – offside again – who taps in from a yard. What were those Scottish officials thinking there?

Obviously the ref just went into shock afterwards, froze solid and incredibly blew on the dot of 4mins to end his nightmare asap.

I've just been rewinding and pausing a few times having just caught it on sky news and yes it was offside but it's inches. I have the screen frozen in front of me right now with the dortmund guy just striking the ball. The furthest Dortmund guy forward is irrelevant as the ball sails over his head. The Malaga guy at the corner of the penalty box was very very close to playing the other 3 on at the moment the ball was struck.

Seriously!

It's not about how offside they look a moment after the ball is struck. Same applies to Malaga goal.

Worm, help me out here. Do your YouTube thing for me.

This takes ages to load but it's conclusive. They are all offside, although Reus may be so far offside he's left the field of play so may in fact be onside.

How is he irrelevant? The ball comes to him less than 2 seconds later!

Ok, I was so hung up on seeing if the other 3 were off, which wasn't as clear cut as is being said. I wasnt checking who the ball fell to!

Malaga goal a fraction offside alright. But isnt the offside rule mainly in place to prevent goal hanging? It was a super move and there was no advantage gained. He'd still have scored if he was a foot further back I reckon. His feet were actually level with the ball. I'm just trying to say that it was hardly a calamitous error, like my judgment on the winner was.

I could watch the Lewondowski goal all night.

Malaga's 2nd was definitely going in, off the post without that offside intervention.
Officials got it right by mistake.

The ITV laser confirms at least 3 were offside when that ball was lumped in.

Overall, the camera angles at Dortmund's stadium are just ace, capture all the viewpoints brilliantly for the goalmouth incidents.

The celebration at the end when the players hopped the fence was something else. Incredible scenes.

It has to host a CL final soon enough.

My brother is going to take in a game there soon and I'm mad jealous. The atmosphere looks and sounds incredible on TV. It's a real testament to how great German fans are, especially when you compare to it to yesterday's Manchester derby where it was a small pocket of Manchester United die-hards making the only noise.

Ken "Borodino" Early has an article in the Irish Times today all about how there's no atmosphere at football games anymore, although he makes the tragic error of implying that football actually existed before 1992 and is occasionally played outside of England: http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/socc...eats-1.1352713

No, but I was flying from Prague to London one time and even at 30,000 feet I could see a yellow rectangle out my window and thought it had to be that ground. I checked the flight map we flew straight over Dortmund. Anyone else pick out footy grounds when flying?

The Times' sports editor (Tony Reid?) wrote an article a while back saying that if UEFA had any sense the CL final would be there every year.

Flew into Dusseldorf a few years ago and did the same.

And yes I try to pick out stadia from the air if I can.

German stadiums appear to be designed to keep the noise in.
It's weird when you're at a stadium and you can't hear the noise from the fans from the other side of the pitch.
