Unai Emery sacked. Valery Karpin back in. Have a hunch Makigidi might be on the move in January.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Trap used to play Liam Lawrence instead of McGeady due to his defensive weaknesses. However, in the last couple of years, I think he has become a much more defensive minded player, as any winger playing in front of the terrible Stephen Ward would have had to do.
McGeady scores against Rubin Kazan on his first start since returning from injury.
Was in Spartak this afternoon for a seminar, Commercial Director came in devastated, Wigan and Sunderland have made approaches for Aiden. Karpin wants to keep him, but his agent is agitating for a big payday in the sky league. Shame if he drops down a level now, but money is money.
Perhaps the thought of playing for MON or Martinez appeals to Aiden as well as plying his trade in the EPL. However, you'd have to feel he would be fairly underwhelmed by the clubs sniffing around, a Europa League placed side /Top 6 or 7 would surely be where Aiden would be hoping for, if he is to show career progression from his Aprtak move.
He's 27 in April, In his prime now, so next contract/move very important.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew
Surely Wigan wouldn't be able to afford him. Unless they are planning on offloading a certain Scottish midfielder...
I'd be disappointed in him for going to Wigan or Sunderland, though it is now about money (as Junior noted) plus he is probably worried about falling out of favour in Moscow - this despite Karpin wanting to extend his contract. Spartak are hunting for another attacker and today at training had 2 triallists (from other clubs). They were looking at Bressan but he went to Alania, so now it's down to Aiden if he wants to go, rather, if his "super" agent wants him to go.
The Mail claims it could be a loan move to Wigan rather than a permanent one.

Lets see if there is any truth in this before the day is out

Sticking point is salary and loan fee (and eventual sale price). Karpin isn't in the office, the head of football is covering it. The club are more concerned with getting the new stadium naming rights over the line. Madness in there today.
I don't understand why they'd sell him for half of what they paid. He maybe hasn't had the best year or so but I'd still have thought he's worth more to them than that.
CD - they won't get back much more unless he was to have accepted the Anzhi offer, but he won't go there. So getting him off the books now, at an apparent loss, saves on salaries, bonuses and also the original figure (almost 10million) included bonuses etc. It's a good deal for Spartak (in a way) as they're looking to save money before the end of the year.
Yeah, they seem to be a bit of a basket case alright. As it happens, I'd be happier to see him at Wigan than Sunderland. Better suits his style of play.
