Watched the last 15 minutes or so online
The pitch was like the surface of the moon, ball was constantly bobbled all over the pitch, multiple passes were missed repeatedly by both sides, even in the short portion of the game I saw
The goal came from a free kick that wasn't cleared, a defender took an air shot that rolled to a Swiss player around the penalty spot, and he finished. A few minutes later one of the Irish strikers had a header on the far side of the goal that rolled just wide.
Incidentally, the Swiss players air kicked the ball a few times as well
Finally, it was a 90 minute game. I thought U18 games didn't play a full game?
If only Corey Chambers was playing for Gorey Rangers...
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
this evening's game is being streamed live on the Swiss FA's website - http://www.football.ch
the u-18's lost 1-0 again to Switzerland. Only saw the last few minutes of the game (stupid job making me do actual work) but there was a brief highlights played after the final whistle, and it looked like the keeper kept Ireland in the game with some magnificent saves, one in particular from a free kick.
The goal itself came from a shot by a Swiss player on the byline, inside the penalty aerea, that was parried out to the edge of the box for a Swiss player to finish. Keeper almost made it back across to save again, but was too late.
Squad for the pair of friendlies with Czech Republic next month named:
Ian Lawlor (Manchester City) Danny Rogers (Aberdeen) Kyle McFadden (Norwich City) Thomas Hoban (Watford) Pierce Sweeney (Reading) Ryan McConnell (Manchester United) Shane Griffin (Reading) Bradley Garmston (West Bromwich Albion) Darragh Lenihan (Blackburn Rovers) Luke Gallagher (Burnley) Kenneth McEvoy (Tottenham Hotspur) Kieran Sadlier (West Ham United) Michael Drennan (Aston Villa) Sam Byrne (Manchester United) Brandon Miele (Newcastle United) Ryan Coombes (St Patrick’s Athletic) Sean Maguire (West Ham United) Kealan Dillon (Hull City) Adam Evans (Burnley) Paul George (Celtic)
Where are Philip Roberts & Jack Grealish. Decent looking squad though

Smashing to see Tommie Hoban in there!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Gareth Bale too: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spur...nneth%20McEvoy
I wasn't aware there was a second Manchester United player in the ranks, McConnell from Donegal. Shame there's only one Ireland-based player.
The best prospect out of that list just might be Shane Griffin when its all said and done.
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
If some people are to be believed, playing for Man United gets you left out of Doolin squads![]()
My sense is that there are a greater number of players from the Premiership than is usual at this level!
