Setanta commentator blamed Harte too despite spending a couple of minutes talking about how he was being taken off. Harte would have dealt with that cross you'd think.

Even an injured Harte would of at least attacked the ball trying to clear it. Complete bottle job by Shorey if I was his teammate I'd be letting him know i felt.

Harte has started the last three games for Reading and with him on the pitch they haven't conceded a single goal (he has played 267/270 minutes of those matches). In the previous four matches they condeced 13 goals.

The play at Spurs tomorrow/today (whatever Tuesday is) so that will be a good test.

An assist for Harte today. Interesting to see that he has somehow forced his way back into the starting line-up. Is Shorey just that bad?

Harte taking all the corners from the right hand side, Guthrie from the left.

But Reading lose today, conceding 3, but that not a great surprise V Spurs.
I note Tabb has been dropped to the bench the last few games.

Third goal was a huge slice of luck. Harte was somewhat at fault for the second when he was beaten by Lennon who crossed for Adebayor.

Amazing comeback for Reading today, Harte and Pearce both played the full 90.

I've lost count the number of times Hartes career at the top level looked finished and he just bounced back to look better than ever. Seemed a foregone conclusion he'd be sold to a lower league side this window, won't happen now. If he continues to play an integral part in Reading's revival he might get yet another contract. Great resilience.

I always liked him. Thought he could have done a job as a left winger as he is so good at crossing and would be valuable with his set pieces. Fair play to him for getting his place back. He was playing well last season.

He was/is so slow though. Dont think he would ever have cut it at left wing. The number of Irish games i attended when i was just cringing at how poor Harte played (more specifically how he defended). I think his challenges over the last 5 years have served him well though and he seems to be enjoying a bit of an indian summer. I havent seen a whole lot of him for Reading over the last couple of years though, is he playing well enough for a recall? Is CB an option for him?
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

He is 36 in August, but as his game does not rely so much on pace, because he doesn't have any apparently, age should not be a big problem for him.
I have always been a bit of a fan of Ian Harte though.

Bit of a story about him above which is quite impressive.
an Harte has consistently been a key part of the Reading system over the last two years, reflected in his goal/assist tallies and his recognition in the Actim Index. Last season Harte was ranked as the 24th best Championship player overall, and 9th best defender. In the 2011/1 season he fared even better, as the 11th best player and 2nd best defender in the league. As mentioned before, Harte’s ability from dead-ball situations is what helps him achieve these high scores. In the 2011/2 season the Irishman notched 4 goals and 11 assists, whilst the previous season saw him grab 11 goals, many of these from the penalty spot. Thus his contribution to the team going forward cannot be underestimated.
There is more on the link.

Any how been comparing the results against Nicky Shorey's

Ian Gets 8 points from 8 games whilst the alternative
Shorey gets 8 points from 15 games.
Which basically shows Ian makes any team twice as good, thought Shroeys individual stats look better.
Personally I think Harte is an intelligent player, you have to be when you are that slow!!

In a Beckham type role where his job was to cross the ball. He would be almost worth a place for his set pieces and there he wouldn't be caught for pace defensively. He is very good technically just a shame he was so so slow.

In the review I read of his recent performance, it referred to the low standards of his set piece play, which in a previous life compensated for other inadequacies.

He provides the free kick for Reading winner, not an assist but an assist to an assist to an own goal, it's a decent free kick
though I am pretty sure that was what intended, ie knock in a ball to be headed into the box.

Harte hit the bar or post from a free kick in a recent match as well. Not sure his set piece delivery is actually suffering that much at all.

foreign language (Greek?), pretty much cut Harte's free kick out apart from briefly on the last replay of the third goal right near the end.

Also the daily mail video is here. It says "Yahoo Sports Uk & Ireland" so I would assume that works you?
I would put in a complaint if it doesn't!!!
