Poor Game in Ballincollig today - both teams had an off day - For the majority of the game it was boys against men with the older croften team on top. Ballincollig battled well to come back from a goal down (soft pen ) and the difference between the teams was young Roche up top who scored the winner. Was Sharp all game and took his goal well. Not sure about his celebration tho - Good win but this young team may come up short in their promotion bid unless they can add a bit more quality and experience to this young squad ( can't doubt their effort and commitment thought )

Dale well worth the win yesterday. Could have been more. Serious group of players now assembled in Carrigaline. Goals came at a good time. Conor Meade and Graham McCarthy with well taken goals. Brendan maybe could have done better with the second one. No complaints really. I had one query alright after the game. Now this had nothing to do with outcome of game but how did Hoggy escape a yellow for the tackle on Chris Butt after 15 minutes and then Chris Byrne got a yellow for the tackle where he clearly won the ball in the second half. Avondale nutter might have a say as it was as near to you as it was to me. By the way our waterboy is gutted after being sent to the dressing room by the assistant. The young lad means well. A sense of humour is badly needed by the same official.

I agree. Shocked that there wasn't a yellow for both that challenge or sprattys challenge in the corner on your right back.

True. Forgot about that one....why do I get the feeling that someone is trying to wind me up. Did I make that much of a song and dance about Spratty. Top player by the way.

Does anyone know anybody who does specific goalkeeper coaching. We have a number of goalkeepers at the club now and Id like to put in place something a bit more structured. The person I was hoping to turn to unfortunately has moved to Waterford so I'm looking for someone to come up for a few sessions and put to gather a training program that all the goal keepers can subscribe to.

On another note took in Ballincollig Crofton game on saturday as we didnt play until Sunday. Thought Ballincolligs goalkeeper was fantastic . One to watch for the future for sure and we will have to be at our best to get the better of him next Saturday.

On the goalkeeping coaching you might try Mark McNulty cork City keeper for advice on that I know he is very approachable lad and he will point you in the right direction if he is not in a position to help you himself.

I also took in the Ballincollig / Crofton match last Saturday and agree the keeper was great he had a great game and brought off some great saves. He is however also you will agree very young and has a great future ahead of him I'd say alright. I also dont agree with peterpan that there will be extra bite between your team and Ballincollig I think it will be a good game next Saturday and I hope the lines behave. You will have seen how they had to remove their dugouts a pity in this day and age that clubs have to resort to such measures to keep their pitches clear and the players safe.

The good thing about the forum is that we can all vent a bit on here. Football is subjective. I can stand at the side of a pitch and come away with a completely different conclusion from a game to that of a person standing 2 foot away. Most on here have their loyalties and their opinions. On some occasions frustrations spill over and the comments are a bit harsh but if your going to dish it out you have to be prepared to take it back. In the odd case you might find that you have to eat a bit of humble pie but thats the risk you take coming on here.

Those "in the right frame of mind" can chose to attend any game they like midweek saturday or sunday and either witness glorious one touch tika taka or they will more than likely witness long established clubs playing to their strengths at any given occasion whilst holding their ground and fighting it out against the new comers like us or like in last weeks donnie Ford cup game two rivals rolling up the sleeves and getting the job done with one side doing a better job on the night than the other. We all have opinions and this forums as good a place as any to vent them and get them of your chest.

I've lived in Cork 10 years this month and I don't think Ive never lived in a place more competitive for sport than here. Derbies everywhere you look be it junior senior or down in West Cork were games can be brutal affairs. Ive seen few clubs and players unable to put any differences past them for the sake of football. Looking forward to having Ballincollig and their supporters down to little island for the game. 3 points up for grabs which is all the spice thats needed. The rest is long forgotten. A week can be long time in football.

Well said Corkgaffer everything said on here should be in a sporting manner and I agree if your going to give you must be prepared to take it. Some people on here just love to stir things up for others the game next week between yourselves and Ballincollig will of course be a good game 3 points up for grabs two sporting sides I hope I can make it as I enjoy a good sporting game

Not really coro, because they finished top 4 last year without him... Its fair to say they are doing very poor this year but i dont think he could of made a difference because of where Marys are in the table, in my opinion they would need somebody that battles instead of a player that moans if things arent going his way. I actually think their centre back from last year is their biggest loss...
