    He'll be disappointed with that.

    Video here around 3:10: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos...m-1-everton-2/

Very reckless, but both that and Cole's looked to be yellows rather than red.

Definitely a red card, dangerous play. He should get a two or three match ban for that.

Modern game. It's way too high at that short distance from another player. You're just not allowed do that anymore.

Careless rather than malicious. Upon seeing it, deserved a red though.

It didn't look much different to Coles' high challenge earlier, but it did have a Cantonesque quality about it.
The ref deemed Coles' as reckless and Gibson's as excessive. I think the ref can justify the red card and he was looking straight at it. He was further away from the Cole incident and the Everton player got straight up.

I don't think either of them deserved a red, they were both trying to play the ball.

Trying to play the ball is not a mitigating factor, the difference between yellow and red is the difference between reckless and excessive force used.

Gibson's reminded me of my only ever red card. Genuine attempt to play the ball, but the ball was in the air, he went in with his foot very high and got the man instead.

Very similar challenges. For me they're careless/reckless and are yellow card offences.

It's a red for me (if one is then both are) but talk of a three match ban when there's clear lack of intent and when racists get away with 4 game ban is daft talk.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

It should be a regular red card, one match ban.
Of the two, Gibson has the cleaner hit and he manages to get that bit extra into the stamp just on contact.

    This is my number I
hits all the buttons - cowardly, vicious, blatant and the cxnt got away with it.

Cole was trying to control the ball, no intention to anything but that, I would give a free kick nothing else.

Gibbo tried to kick the ball, missed and caught Noble with the follow through, maybe a yellow.

Here is my number 1, I still get shocked everytime i see this:

Jason got the ball (and the man), that's more than Gibson managed.

The general consensus amongst the pundits over the weekend was that the referee was wrong and they were both yellows. Both players were clearly going for the ball but it's always going to look bad catching a player that high up with your studs. Fair play to Leighton Baines for getting straight back up, one of my favourite PL players to watch at the moment.

I believe that's the first time Gibson was sent off in his career. He's not a dirty player. Then again, tackling isn't a fundamental part of his game.
