well done also to glen celtic a brilliant achievement all round, paulie and seamus did a brilliant jobwith the team playing attractive football.
How annoying is it seeing teams getting the results like they are this weekend, Kinsale winning 8 nil against Macroom, Castleview hitting Kanturk for 7, Springfield hitting 5 past Leeds, its very frustrating to see teams get easy games like that at the business end of the league, im not taking away from the teams that won but in fairness how are these results a fair reflection on the league, with these teams putting that little effort into games, Aul must do something to stop this as it turns the league into a bit of a joke.
To be honest we tried,it wasn't a 7-0 game,2 pens nd 2 comical ogs.we lost our keeper nd few players to gaa, which is frustrating.its hard to keep goin.travellin to Cobh Tuesday night,I'm sure castleview nd pearse won't be looking out for result!!but we have 1 or 2 back so hopefully wel give it a good go!its a fair point looking from the outside in,every year it happens.8-0,7-0 in may a lot...but dont think anything can be done
That's my point Freddie, nothing to play for, maybe keep a cup competition till end of season, or try and keep the number of games played by teams as close as possible instead of some teams having played 7/8 games more than others, I know it's easier said than done but it happens every year.
Understand your frustration Radio when you are up there challenging and are hoping teams will give your rivals a hard game, but this goes on every year. For a long time Kinsale through no fault of their own only for being succesful in local and national cups were playing catch up in the league and often played teams who had not played for weeks at the end of the season. I think it was a mistake to move the Mossie Linnane to the start of the season when you could get 4-5 league games in. Also the AUL should look at giving prem/prem a teams a bye in the early rounds of the AOH. Okay you get the rare upset but some of the cricket scores you get are crazy and a waste of time. I dont think anyone can get the perfect scenario, but suggestions from clubs should be looked at.
Exactly Overthehill, there has to be solutions, even when setting fixtures from January when most Leagues are taking shape, the early contenders could be fixed to play the teams who don't look like challenging, and keep all the remaining games between the contenders until the end of season at least that way the games at the end of the season will be someway competitive.
to be fair this is something that happens in every league no matter what level.mid table teams have no chance of promotion .wont be relegated ,a long weekend, etc some teams barely have a team at this stage of season.some battle now between the three teams in premier A,pearse ,castleview,springfield.2 from 3 to go up.think the third team will end up there as well with teams going senior,.
Wilton, Leeside and Kinsale have been accepted into the MSL 2nd division for next season. AUL will have to re-vamp prem A now.
Good man Boar, i go to the AOH final every year and will be there again this yr. Shouting? thats not my styleHave a little wager on it and hope it comes up tho!! Wonder if the 3 clubs going MSL will keep a presence in the AUL too?
leeside might keep theirs but but would it be strong enough for premier then.maybe the leauge might just go and have1 premier section with a few extra teams in it,personally i think the league needs a total restructure anyway.same teams ,in same sections every year .
It might not be official but my source is good so watch this space, and I did hear to that Wilton do have new management but that source is not as reliable!! Overthehill guess I'll see you at the cross Friday night as I always go to the AOH Cupfinal too, hopefully it'll be a good game. the youths cup final was a cracker yesterday morning best match i've seen in a long time.
Heard last night Overthehill has being linked to the Wilton job- Just thought i put that out there, totally false but get silly season off to a good start!
I did hear Malcolm was thinking of applying for the AIUL job, but all rumours!
