debatable?
Even if McShane did turn down a call-up, I'm sure people would chastise for turning his back on his country. It's a no-win situation for him. Ultimately, responsibility lies with Trapattoni. If anyone's to be criticised for McShane lining out for us, unfortunately, it's Trap. Obviously, nobody in their right mind is going to turn down playing for their country. Unless they're Stephen Ireland. Then again, it's debatable as to whether or not he has a right mind at all...
debatable?
I don't think anyone would seriously wish injury on him, but if he misses out and Kelly/Foley get the chance to show what they can do in a competitive international, it would be of enormous benefit to us in my opinion
Bring Back Belfast Celtic F.C.
Wish ill-will on McShane and something bad is bound to happen to someone crucial. Like Shay, or Robbie, or Dunney Monster.
Karma's a coont like that.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Our system is stagnant without a full back in the vein of Coleman, but of course he would have to be competent at defending.
Amusing beginning to this...
Paul McShane has signed for Barnsley on loan
Barnsley Website
Call this guy up!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Wonder if Crosby, Charlie Darwin, Geysir etc still reckon McShane belongs in the Premier League. Think its time to accept you were wrong.
I don't remember saying he was good enough for the epl.
When he was at Hull in the epl, I said he had every chance to be good enough, but the odds were against it happening.
I thought he would have gone straight back down to the championship level when struggling with Sunderland.
I dont remember saying anything about him ever! But then again, I do like the occasional internet sports message board/ pimms cup combination. No one listens to me anyway so no harm no foul I guess.
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
Did you say the same when Andy Reid went out on loan to a team in the Championship even worse than Barnsley (i.e. the Blunts)? Sean St Ledger, our incumbent centre half, is playing for the bottom team in the Championship.
Too early to write his Irish obituary particularly since we're not exactly flush with cover in the defence.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
It's not, he's ****e.
Sorry that was immature. We've plenty of cover across the backline now.
Right full, Josh, Kelly, Foley, Coleman
Centre half Dunney, Ledger, Josh, kelly (at a push) O'Dea, Clark
All of those players are better options than Paul McShane. Even at centre half, Duffy if we were really stuck. Wilson has EPL experience at centre half.
McShane's time in the Irish squad should be coming to an end.

I still think McShane is good enough for the Premier League but he'll have to earn his way back.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
That's only 8 for 4 places and I for one would not select O'Dea ahead of McShane. At least the latter has some pace to make up for his mistakes and he's also better in the air but the point I was making anyway is that the mere fact that he's gone to Barnsley doesn't mean he's finished as an Irish international.
