Yes the association gets it first but iirc the IFA pay out Oct/Nov and not at the end of the season.

Sad to see any club going under and no club in the LOI can say much about a club not being run properly as the vast majority have had money issues at one point or another. However, Fingal was a disaster waiting to happen for a long time. They came into the league at a time when there were multiple clubs either folding, being demoted, not paying wages, wage cuts etc.

They were operating off a clean slate and should have been able to see that the best move to make the club sustainable was not paying big wages with no real security to back it up. They had a chance to build something sustainable similar to the likes of Wexford, Bray, Monaghan etc.

In fairness it appears Fingal have been honourable in terms of wages which is a credit to them when compared to a lot of clubs including Galway. However, you'd have to question how they were allowed to be signing players up to last week? I hope they survive in some format and perhaps return to what they should have been at the start, a community club.

Most of their players should get contracts elsewhere but their wage demands will be reduced big time. Good news for Pats as they'll be back in Europe.

I agree with most posters on here that is rough on the supporters of any club that goes under, small in number though they may be, but it's worse on the employees of the club who are now officially unemployed. And this is where my gripe with Fingals management is. Peoples lives were being played with. Some person or persons in the background knew this day was more than likely going to arrive, and sooner rather than later. Yet they continued to issue employment contracts right up to a few days ago while knowing they would soon be worthless. They took on a Commercial Manager less than two weeks ago. Was he supposed to perform miracles immediately? Was he or any of the players told the future was looking very, very bleak when the contracts were being put on the table for signing? If this was done in the normal business world there would be public outcry. But nothing is "normal" in the LoI.
I genuinely feel sorry for Lamper and the Lep who have come on here and constantly defended their club and believed in their club. Such loyal supporters are as valuable to any club as the team. But I'm sure they too must feel very let down.
Let's hope every other club now wakes up and smells the coffee and that we do'nt have the same thread on here next year about somebody else.

As always it's a shame to see this sort of thing happen and when it does it is a sad day for the League Of Ireland as players are out of work and fans lose a team to support .

Must say that its sad to see another club go under in this fashion, franchising the club was definitely a worthwhile experiment and Fingal CC should be commended for getting involved in the LoI in the way that they have. But after their first season it seemed that the club wanted to move on too fast and made the same mistakes as every other team in the League of spending way over their budget, going for the big prizes instead of building the club up slowly at grass roots level to generate some income.
All Irish clubs are going to have see sense soon or we'll be left with seven or eight team league. Bohs, Galway, Drogheda are all on the same slippery slope as Fingal and god knows what other clubs have a financial crisis on the horizon
Weaseling out of things is important to learn, it's what seperates us from the animals!! Well... except for the weasel.

With Chambers gone I'd be surprised if our boss hasn't already contacted Ronan Finn about coming on board.

According to todays papers you're trying to get Finn, Williams and O'Neill, plus Oman is pretty much a done deal

“This is great news for all at the club and in these difficult economic times, the club is extremely grateful to Cab 2000 and in particular to its owner, Mr. Anthony Kelly, for his wonderful support of the club, both going forward and over the past two seasons.”

“The contribution being made by CAB 2000 is extremely substantial and will be of great assistance to the BOM in its efforts to return the club to its rightful place in the Premier Division of the Airtricity League.”

Even with Rovers significant financial clout, you're talking an extra 3k easy on to the wage bill there (and that's a minimum guesstimation!).. Can't see that being feasible never mind true. Williams is a cert ot go Cross-Channel i'd say.. Liverpool could be sniffing now since they missed out on Charlie Adam!

    From todays indo
Midfielder Shaun Williams has particular reason to be aggrieved. The club rejected an approach from Celtic last month and, under British transfer regulations, it appears that he is now unable to move across the water until the summer as he didn't become a free agent before the transfer window closed on January 31.

I heard Tony O'Donoghue saying this last night and this has already been debunked as a complete lie. Yet of course if it's repeated ad nauseum then it must be true. I wonder will we ever have a season where we start will all clubs who finished the previous?

Yeah, he has some sort of off-field role, either as CPO or something along those lines.

I'm not sure how accurate that is Eamo, There has to be cause for dispensation!.. was going to highlight Shefki Kuqi's move to Newcastle as case in point but that won't hold water as he was released in January!

Closer to €4k a week or a whopping €160k for the season.

Hard to know about Williams (probably will go cross chanel in July), Oman is a done deal, Finn probable, but there is competition for O'Neill even at the crazy money he was offered by Fingal.

I expect Rovers to sign three of these.
