Anderlecht hammered TNS 3 - 0 in the second leg of their match for anyone who is interested. Trounced by an aggregate of 6 - 1 over the two legs.

Think TNS are in the next round of the Europa league now.

Don't think 3-0 counts as a hammering, or 6-1 on aggregate as a trouncing, to be honest. Decent showing from them.

TNS now drop into the last qualifying round of the Europa League (two legged playoff for a place in League stage). Well beaten by Andelecht but hardly a thrashing.

TNS drew CSKA Sofia, who played Cliftonville in the last round and won 5-1. Good draw/ bad draw? On paper it seems like they have a small chance of progressing which would be excellent for the Welsh Premier, but maybe not. Anyone watch them in the last round and can give an opinion?

By the way I thought the performance by TNS against Anderlecht was pretty decent, when you consider the gulf in terms of pedigree. 1-3 and 0-3 was no disgrace.

At that stage, it sounds like a bad draw. You're not going to get into the groups - CSKA should win handily enough; remember Levski Sofia beat Dundalk 8-0 on aggregate, which also puts the Bulgarian league in context - and really you want a money-making draw (I would imagine). PSV, Stuttgart and Aston Villa in the same pot were much more attractive draws.

I know that alright; just trying to put the Bulgarian league in general in context.

Didn't see the games obviously, but CSKA won 3-0 in Bulgaria, so I assume that they took it a bit easy in the return leg. Could be well wrong on that obviously.

You're right,it's only when ye get beat 4-0 that it counts as a thrashing.

If you look at travel agent newspaper promotions to EPL games, well over half of them are trips to see both teams' games. Thats the market here. Therefore, among Irish people anyway, the Premiership interest boils down to two teams, and only one of their players is Irish now.

If Boh's were in the place of TNS and had gotten to the Europa League play-offs, it would have been great. It's what Irish football needs on a regular basis, not just one hit wonders. If you keep knocking on the door, you'll eventually be heard and you might get in as well.

The Champions League group stage kicks off tonight. It's hard to know what sides Irish football fans will support? Unfortunately Ireland's wait for a Champions League representative at this stage continues. Scotland's Glasgow Celtic have a habit of getting a bit of support in this county but they failed to qualify as well. Werder Bremen wear green!

It would have been great for Bohs. I don't know how much the financial reward is for a place in the Europa league, but I'm guessing it would solve their financial problems, and they'd probably have some left over.

I don't see how it would be beneficial for the league as a whole though. Maybe people in other countries might look at our representative in the europa league and see our domestic league in a different and better light, but I see no evidence that it would raise the standard of the league or get more people in through the turnstiles.

Any financial gain for Bohs would have to go straight to servicing debt. At least if Sligo or somebody got into Europe they'd be in a position to invest the money in development projects.
