Glad to see Fahey made it
Maybe he just used the Brazil game to look at Cunningham and is looking at the training camp to get a good look at Ward?
Glad to see Fahey made it
And ginger too...
I'm also a bit surprised by Coleman's omission. Isn't he showing fantastic promise on loan at Blackpool? We're all well aware of McShane's limitations by this point. He could have taken his slot.
RTÉ's article on the squad refers to eight uncapped players being called up, but they forget to mention the uncapped Keith Treacy in the story, despite him appearing in the squad list at the bottom. I think they somehow confused him with Kevin Foley, who has a cap, despite RTÉ stating otherwise.
definitely not injured, he played against Man United in the Manchester Senior Cup last thursday: http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Match-rep...Res-v-City-Res
Likewise. Maybe Brian Murphy will get a chance too in Given's absence now, although I imagine Westwood is first-choice replacement. Would Brian Murphy be ahead of Joe Murphy in the pecking order?
Is O'Dea seeing much first-team action at Celtic recently? What's the verdict on him anyway? Still hopes of blossoming into a solid international footballer? He'd probably be best to get out of there given the current state they're in. Would a Premier League side give him a chance?
O'dea came off bench for Celtic yesterday (and don't play a couple of weeks ago when i watched them last). With their problems this year, that doesn't bode well for the lad

In other unrelated news,
The Football Association of Ireland have announced that Don Givens will step down as under 21 international manager after almost ten years in the role.
He will take up a new position overseeing the FAI's UK based scouting network, continuing to work closely with the underage and senior international set up through High Performance Director, Wim Koevermans and senior manager, Giovanni Trapattoni.
Criticism is prejudice made plausible
there was an article in one of yesterdays papers suggesting O'Dea has been one of the recent bright sparks in Celtics season...

I think the call up of Cunningham to the Brazil friendly was a bit bizarre, perhaps it was purely for Trap to have a look at the lad on the basis of what Mancini's recommendation. Nonetheless the lad obviously isnt ready for this level yet, or at least in Traps opinion, otherwise he wouldve made the squad. Decent squad to have a look at, no obvious omissions with the exceptions of coleman and A Reid (i know he has been out injured but I believe is back training now).
Was there anything said in the press conference of Steven Reid or is it just accepted now that his international career is over now under Trap the same as Andy ?
Its really not that complicated!!!
I suspect you're right, but maybe it's a case of him being (a) one of the senior players to be called up later, or (b) an acknowledgment that calling him up for international duty unnecessarily is a risk, given he missed a season due to an injury he received playing for us.
I doubt he would be looked at as one of the senior players considering the amount of time he has been away from the squad so hopefully its just a precaution, I would have my doubts though.Hopefully he signs for West Brom and plays regularly in the Premiership next season to try and force his way back, although if Andy Reid is anything to go by no amount of good play will be good enough if you fall out with Trap
Its really not that complicated!!!
Though he hasnt fallen out with him - has he?......... Though there was the little misunderstanding about the injury a few months back
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew
Stephen Ward ruled out.
http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/News/0,...037033,00.htmlStephen Ward will today undergo an operation for an ongoing knee problem which is set to rule him out of joining up with the Republic of Ireland squad for an end-of-season training camp in Dublin.
Andy Reid to have calf operation, so that's a call up for him definitely ruled out: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2010/0428/reida.html
