What a horrible, horrible season for football. I hope the FAI,MJC,LDMC and some clubs learn from this series of debacles which have really screwed up what we are all in the game for, simply a game of Sunday league ball whether we play or support... it's sad!!

Sorry for interrupting all the doom and gloom but would it be ok to mention the game that is going ahead on Sunday! 'Town will probably be favourites but Villa have a few handy players who if not 'gotten into' could cause some problems. Villa are without their centre half having been sent off in previous round - a big loss. I think 'Town will have too much for them but should be a good game. Great venue and looks like should be a good day (as long as there's no ash showers!). Is it true that Robbie Costigan has re-signed for 'Town - timely and excellent news if true - especially as Raymie's 'nose job' could keep him out for a while.

not sure if robbie signed heard nothing, raymie be massive loss though he was having a great season. robbie is center back for tipp senior footballers so cant see him being 100% committed to soccer but if town have him just for mjc and fai im sure they wont complain. i fancy town sunday cause its on in cahir they have slight advantage ill go 2-1 with goals from scully and moroney
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

Was not at game but would have expected Town to win that easy. Have seen Villa a few times this season and they are far from a good side. Are town slipping a bit.

Not slipping, just had a bad bad day in front of goal. Could have been 3-0 at half time and 7-0 at full time. Ritchie Ryan was a spectator. I don't think he made a single save. CTFC back 4 were excellent, as in fairness were Villa's defence.

The goal, when it came, was inevitable. Villa fought well and will be dissapointed not to take Clonmel back to Ozier Park. They offered very little up front and couldn't get around Man of the match Stephen Ryan.

I couldn't make the match but fair play to Town, great to have one final to look forward to ( whenever it will be played). Congrats- I am told by anyone who was it that we were the better side

You say that Villa's defence was excellent but yet you also say that Town could have won by 7 goals..........?????

The game would not have gone back to Ozier Park. It had to finish yesterday - penalties if they had been necessary.

I thought 'Town were only ok yesterday - they again lacked the urgency and concentration that they seem to reserve for more 'illustrious' opponents. While they never looked like conceding they were only a few minutes away from the 50 / 50 chance of penaltys (granted I would reckon they'd have the advantage in a penalty shootout)**Hooper74 post changes this scenario - same sentiment though**. Evan Maguire and to a lesser extent Rory Kiely improved things greatly on their introduction. Ian Barnes wasn't on his game while Barry Murphy isn't good enough to be in the starting line-up - as a sub he's ok to bring on (that said if it does end up a 'Town - Carrick final, some role reversal for him having scored the winner for Carrick in the final in 2004(?)). First time out in Cahir for a couple of years - some set-up. Be great to see a regional or national final there this year.

was at the game yesterday and was blown away by the new facilities in cahir, fair play to them. as for the game, villa were truly terrible going forward. how they got this far is puzzling but you have to admire them for it. town are far from the finished article and certainly not as strong as previous years, that said i would think if you had told town they would be in this position in october they would have grabbed the hand off you. i expect them to win one of the big 2 competitions now

Let me say it again, the game would have gone to penalties - no replay. I have just heard the Clonmel Town manager say on Tipp FM about how close it came to a replay at Ozier Park and Hooper74 stated the same. Not true. Would someone tell them there are no replays in this competition. The final will also finish on the day - extra time and penalties.

I cannot comment on what the referee informed both sets of players. I am stating the rules of the Munster Junior Cup Competition - all games are to be decided on the day, no replays.

Just looked up the cup rules on Mun FA website:
In Munster Junior Cup rules (http://homepage.eircom.net/~munfa/docs/CUP-rules.pdf)

    5. In the semi-final ties the net gate receipts, after payment of all expenses shall be divided in the proportion of one-third to the association and the remaining between the two competing teams. In the event of a replayed semi-final the receipts after the payment of expenses shall be divided in proportion of one-third to the association and one-third to each of the competing teams.

So I guess this means the semi's will go to replays - but it doesn't state it very clearly, as item 4 on list says 90 minutes + 10 minutes each way (if needed) + penalties (if needed). It seems to suggest that the semi finals can go to replay but no other round???
