    Joleon Lescott 19million
    Richard Dunne 5million

Lescott cost 4 times what Dunne did. i know which one represents value for money considering Dunne is twice the player Lescott is.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

The prices don't represent what they're worth though just represents the fact that the selling club didn't want to sell in one case and did in another

For Lescott, the BBC reported a transfer of £22m plus add ons, with wages rumoured to be over £90k a week.

why John, what point are you making? Isnt it Dodge who defines a players worth as the amount that a club is willing to pay for a player?

Value for money is a far different thing which is what my original point was.

The amount that a club pays for a player has nothing to do with his value. Remember, they are buying the contract of the player, not the player himself. Michael Ballack signed for Chelsea on a free transfer as he was a free agent at the end of the 2005/06 season, but that doesn't make him worthless. He's worth a lot more than a player like Shevchenko who was bought for thirty million pounds!

As predicted, and, although it can't be directly associated!, Hughes's ridiculous decision to get rid of Dunne has cost him his job. Dunne must be in second heaven (in 4th place in the EPL) laughing his big a$$ off

Delighted for Dunne. He was treated very badly by Manc City. They couldn't wait to unload him, despite the fact that he had won 4 back to back player of the year awards.

one of the higher ups said that richard dunne doesn't sell jerseys or something but how exactly do lescott and toure sell jerseys either? if i was a kid i'd never want them on the back of my shirt. players like ferdinand and nesta(i know he's **** now but he's a name) are the kind of defenders that sell jerseys

I have found that t-shirt quote, I am not too sure if it was Hughs decision to sell Dunne, seems it was forced upon him.

    Anyway here is his quote:-

"“China and India are gagging for football content to watch and we’re going to tell them that City is their content. We need a superstar to get through that door. Richard Dunne doesn’t roll off the tongue in Beijing. Ronaldinho brings access to major sponsors and financial reward”

If Gary Cook wants to sell t-shirts perhaps he should get a job at Top-Man?
Perhaps it is Gary Cook who should have been sacked?
He clearly knows nothing about football.

Man City got £5m from Villa for Dunne, but Dunne's wife apparently negotiated a pay-off from City as Dunne was one year short of a testimonial.

I would imagine Dunne would have taken a pay-cut in order to stay aswell as he was completely happy where he was which would have balanced the books so any talk of City saying they needed the money is absolute rubbish. They clearly wanted rid of him for whatever reason!!

I'm delighted to see their defence leaking so many goals when Villa continue to keep clean sheets. It would be class if Villa make top 4 ahead of City!!!

Ronaldinho might have been a better centre-half signing than Lescott!!!

Good blog on Dunney on the BBC website today.

Would be great to see him win something.

The chairman/CEO guy saw Dunne as a threat to his authority, he wants an army of slaves to the dollar and not players in his rank with a forceful presence who'll stand against him.
If I'm not mistaken wasn't it the same guy who tried to offload Stephen Ireland to Sunderland before Mark Hughes veto'd it and Ireland went on to become one of the best players of the season.

And he successfully managed to get rid of Corluka while they're left with the championship quality Micah Richards at right back.
