Aston Villa's supporters forum is reporting Dunne has spoken with MON and will be signing for them if City get Lescott/anynamehere. Good move if it happens.

MON would be a great manager for Dunne. He man manages well and always seems to get the best out of centre backs. Better manager than Hughes by a distance.

Is there any talk for him being used as a makeweight in the Lescott deal?

I wouldnt mind seeing him back at Everton to be honest.

You could be on a roll Noely, if this one pans out.

Would be a decent move if it happens, Villa finished 6th four places above Man City, and that means UEFA football, also nice to have some Irish interest when Villla play + MON is one of the best mangers around.
    Good move if it happens.

apparently man city have signed that guy lescott from everton, so dunne will be off. aston villa would be a step back but not a massive one.

I find it difficult to understand why Mark Hughes has so little time for Dunne.
Dunne was a little naughty 5/6 years ago and was maybe having too good of a time. He sorted that out and was citys best player for 3 years.

Has dunne got back to his good time ways or is it just one of those cases where one manager does not like this players style of play and wants to get rid of him.

Dunne had poor assistance in defence last year and certainly in the early part of the year the midfield was not doing too much to help the defence.

If Hughes does not get his midfield working better defencievly then whoever he has playing at centre back may not look that good either.

To be honest if the manager of a club does not want you and it looks like he will keep his job in the medium to long term then any player is better off out of there.

The manager may not have to like you but he has to have respect for you as a player. The player must also respect the manager of course.

The question remains to be answered if getting a truck load of cash will make Hughes into a good manager and City into a bigger club.
Villa have performed better than City. Mon is undoubtably a better manager than Hughes, so far.
For Ireland, it would be a very good move for Dunne.

I actually think that at this point in time it's a step up.... City now are far from Chelsea under Mourinho. And I don't see that changing this season.
I pity the fool!.... But suggest ways that he might improve himself.

If City pay over 20 million for Lescott it would nearly match the Ibrahimovic to Barcelona deal for stupidity. Hes is a seriously average defender and alongside Toure, who was very average also for Arsenal last season, they would not inspire a whole lot of confidence. If Dunne stayed at City I would have no doubt he could keep his place ahead of either of those two... but it does look like he is being forced out and a move to Villa would be excellent for him.Martin ONeill is the perfect manager to get the sort of performances out of him that won him Citys player of the season 4 years in a row and of the standard of his Ireland performances under Trap.I always had a bit of time for Hughes because I thought he did very well as manager of Blackburn and Wales but he is making some very strange decisions at City.... and if their preseason form is anything to go by it will be more of the same as last year for them
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Selling Toure for 15 million was a good price for Arsenal I reckon. Toure had the nerve to complain about lack of leadership at Arsenal, but at 28 leadership was supposed to come from him. I wasn't evident very often. Decent player but still looks to me like a frustrated midfielder rather than a natural CB. Lescott's a decent player too but nowhere near worth 18 million (the figure I read City bid yesterday).

I've heard from a very good source that Dunne went a bit mad on the beer for a spell last season.

At Craven Cottage we all commented that he looked on the heavy side again.
