�400k is a lot of money, but Cork regularly get crowds of around 4,000 so a ton each, and more from those who can afford it could be raised assuming FORAS then take over the club, sell everyone, and start again properly.

Thats what i would hope would happen. Just going down to the first division ,or even the A Championship would really benefit the club and allow us the chance start from scratch. Ideallly ,it would be great if the club was run by FORAS should this happen. Just hope first we are still in existance after our next date in the high court. After that,i would'nt care what division we are in.

The clear out has begun. Colin Healy and Denis Behan both on their way to Hartlepool.
Fee not disclosed afaik, but can't imagine it's near what the players are worth, given our circumstances. Two players off the wage bill, some amount of cash coming in, is the club finally seeing a little bit of sense, far far too late.

While it may be depressing as a Cork City fan, to see the start of a fine squad unravel, surely this is a very positive sign that there may actually be a way out of the mess for Cork?

Sizeable chunk of cash in (presume that it is up-front and not phased payments!) at least gives the club a better chance to appease the Revenue, and buy the time to re-structure from within the premier division.

There's an easy way out of it, I'm just not sure that we'll set ourselves up to avoid being back here in a month.

I would agree with you there. If we get sell players of the current squad and then go down to the A championship,it will give us the chance to build up this club from scratch with some of City's current youth team players and with some Munster senior league players. But the question is that will be enough.

COLIN HEALY last night signed a two-year deal with Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town and will be unveiled later this morning after moving to the Championship side for a reported €70,000 fee.

Healy had been speaking to Hartlepool United about a possible move before Ipswich stepped in on Tuesday to try and snatch the former Republic of Ireland international.

Healy who started his career at Celtic and went on to play for Sunderland, Livingston and Barnsley before joining his hometown club in 2007, had a trial with Ipswich in 2006.

After Sunday’s 2-0 friendly defeat at Turner’s Cross, Keane had dismissed suggestions he was still interested in the Leesiders’ star.

But he told local media in Ipswich yesterday that a strong central midfielder was needed in his squad.

"After the game I took stock and thought about what I need. I know he is a very good character and he will add a bit more steel to the spine of our team," Keane said.

"I have played against him a few times and know what he can do.

"He has played 20 or so games this season so he will be ready to come straight in and I look forward to him coming in."

CORK City's players will not be subject to any wage cuts before next Monday's court hearing after owner Tom Coughlan pencilled in talks with PFAI General Secretary, Stephen McGuinness, for after the High Court date.
Having met the players on Monday, McGuinness came to an agreement with the squad that no pay negotiations will be done outside the remit of the players' union.
And the PFAI chief was contacted by Coughlan yesterday when they agreed to meet at the beginning of next week for talks over players' wages, after the court case in which the Revenue is petitioning for the club to be wound up.
As the club continues to raise funds and cut costs in order to keep the Revenue at bay, Colin Healy (above) was discussing personal terms ahead of a move to Ipswich yesterday.
Sean Kelly, meanwhile, was the latest player off the Cork City books yesterday as he made his loan deal to Galway United permanent.
Tom Coughlan was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Hope City pull through, it'd be a shame to see one of the country's best supported clubs go to the wall, but between the Ipswich match and Healy's transfer you should be OK, depends on how the supporters trust works out. Don't expect any Kerry sympathy when your A team visits Sunday week though!

Hopefully TNB will go and FORAS will take over the club. We have had crisis after crisis at Cork City for the last few years and having the club in the hands of whom the club means the most to will benefit City the most. We will probably learn more of FORAS's intentions going foward after tomorrows agm.

It's a pity Tom Coughlan turned out to be such a *******. I had real hope when he took over but started raising questions when the likes of Kuduzovic and O'Donnell signed.

i dont think they got the turn out they were expecting for the ipswich match,
i think 25 quid was a bit much and put alot of people off.
whereas, waterford only charged 15 euro and a tenner for old age and kids and sold out the rsc.
