Fintan Dreary of Platinum One, seemed to suggest this morning on RTE Radio 1 that the Toon/Hoops Reserves game was another Platinum production, any Hoop know about this?
Off topic, nauseating piece on the same programme from Charlie Chawke saying that his bid 100 million to buy Newcastle was "good for Ireland". The whole panel of Muppets assented, including Finbar Flood, who should have known better.

Peter Gal-Andrezly and Pavol Jurco played with MFK Kosice of Slovakia last season.
Didnt Man Utd play them in the Champions League qualifers in the 90's?

In the group stages in 1998. Lost 3-0 in both games.

(Bert Kassies' search function is excellent for stuff like that)

    Atletico Madrid B & Celtic Set For Oriel - Aug 1st & 3rd

    http://dundalkfc.com/news/090714_Friendlies.asp

14th JULY 2009: Atletico Madrid and Celtic Set For Oriel
Club Atlético de Madrid B and Celtic have been confirmed for an exciting feast of football at Oriel Park on the bank holiday weekend in August. Atlético will be the first to visit, on 1 August, when they face Dundalk, and Los Colchoneros will stay in town for another game against Celtic two days later.

    Connor appeal
“They’re two really good friendlies that I’m really pleased about,” Dundalk manager Sean Connor commented to dundalkfc.com. “I think it’s two good games for the Dundalk fans to watch. I spoke to Neil Lennon at the weekend and he was really happy about the game as well, so hopefully both games will go well. There’s no doubt about it, we need decent crowds to make a bit of money, because there are costs attached to it, flying the teams over and putting them up in hotels, so there’s fairly heavy costs attached to it.

    Constant project
“We need the support of the Dundalk public,” he added. “We have tried dates when there’s not a lot happening. We have only one league game at home in August so hopefully people will come in and support them. Celtic were very, very pleased last time and that has helped to get them back this time, and I’m working all the time to try to get a Celtic first team. The problem there at the minute is that the Celtic first team can make anything up to a couple of hundred thousand pound for playing a game in different places all over the world.

    ‘Good opportunity’
“We’re not in that situation, so we have to try to make it attractive in other ways, in terms of how we look after them and they know that they’re going to come and play in front of a decent crowd. That was commented on the last time, the crowd was bigger than they thought, so that’s a positive. Hopefully we’ll get the word out there, not just to Dundalk fans, but Celtic fans and maybe general football fans who would like to see Atlético Madrid play. I think it’s a good opportunity.”

    Busy schedule
Due to the Lilywhites’ busy league schedule, which may see them having to squeeze in a game against Saint Patrick’s Athletic should Jeff Kenna’s men progress in the UEFA Europa League, they will not have time to complete a triangular tournament with a game against the Scottish giants.

    Spanish welcome
However, Dundalk will have a second friendly next month against FC Barcelona, a date for which has yet to be confirmed. Dundalk have already faced Celtic this year, back in March when the Hoops won 3-1 at Oriel. The visit of Atlético will be a first for the Louth club, though, as they have never welcomed a Spanish team to the border venue despite their many appearances on the European stage.

    Future stars
Atlético’s first team, which features international stars such as Sergio Agüero, Simão, Diego Forlán, John Heitinga, Maxi Rodríguez and Tomáš Ujfaluši, will be involved in the Emirates Cup in London on the same weekend when they face Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. However, their B promises to have just as many future stars on show as they have in the past produced world class players like Fernando Torres, Raúl González, Rubén Baraja and João Pinto.

    Ticket prices
Ticket prices for both games will be the same as a normal Category A league match and bookings are now being taken at Oriel Park, telephone 042-9335894. Further details of the Barcelona friendly will be announced at a later date.

    Confirmed friendlies:
Dundalk v Club Atlético de Madrid, Saturday 1 August, Oriel Park (kick-off TBC)
Club Atlético de Madrid v Celtic, Monday 3 August, Oriel Park (kick-off TBC)

Caught one of your games during the year (away v Stockport). Youz stayed up handy enough in the end with that run, I think?

The main town's about ten minutes' walk away, maybe a bit more. But the ground is two minutes from the train station, so if the bar there is open, it's your best bet.
There is no bar at the train station stu.

Looks like the Rovers v Real game is a dud.

    No Kaka or Ramos! Ha.

Ronaldo is the only star player.

Only the rubbish players like Robben, van der Vaart, Hunterlaar, Guti, Heinez, Diarra and some fella called Benzema? Never heard of him?

BTW Partizan I'm only joking so relax.

Yeah, score a couple 100 goals and people think he's a superstar! Man U reject just like Ronaldo

Joking a side, just looking at there squad Madrid could put out a 'weaken' side and still take on the best in europe.

I wish you hadn't said that last bit; I'm rather bored and would have liked to enjoy the fireworks.
